FIRST OOC POST: EDIT THIS AT YOUR WILL.

Before simply opening a thread in one of the forums, we use the RPG interest idea forum, to check for interested players and/or storyline. As this is your first post on the board, you have done neither.

Kindly do so in future before blindly starting a thread.

I don't remember reading you have to do that. I have done nothing wrong but open an RPG in this section for it is empty if you haven't noticed.

Yes, you are right. But the fact of the matter is that you have an idea not a full blown RP set up. The ideas interest query is simply the best place to go now for you need to see if anyone will join the RP and it also gives you a chance to see if you want to change it at all. Cause all your doing is trying to play out the books. Overall that is nothing much and personally unless we would be changing the storyline and characters I wouldn't want to be in myself.

And I am merely giving you advise on how things are done on these forums. The forums are there to open threads that are fully set up, with detail of where it is taking place, including a first post that gives others the opportunity to join in. The forum I have pointed out to you is to check if anyone is interested in your idea. This way if there is no interest, we will not have to delete threads across the entire board.

All you have done is trying to reserve yourself a spot, which is not how things are done on this board, thus is the reason why I reacted upon it. Kind of throwing in money into a parkingmeter, because you want to park there later in the day... It doesn't work that way.

I'm not a n00b at role playing. I've done it before, and this idea has worked in the past. I am not putting this up just to "reserve" the spot. And it is a remake, that doesn't mean it is going exactly by the book. It is a guideline, keeping the general plot about the ring.

Alright, first off you may not be a "Noob" to role playing but that does not mean you are not a "noob" of this site. Just because this idea has worked in the past does not mean it will work here. For a matter of fact if the RP has been working then why has no one even joined it yet. The thing is is that you are a lot like others who come in and say they are pros at roleplaying but then create an RP and mess it up. I'm not saying yours is bad though. Your idea is thought out to a point. But you should have put it in the idea interest query to check if anyone would join. Also, even if you don't you should post your character, even if it is Aragorn, as well as put up a starting post. That way people will know better where they should place themselves and how it is set up.

Esaul, nobody stated that you are a n00b at roleplaying, I am merely trying to elaborate how things work on this board since you are new here. Now kindly make use of the 'RPG Ideas interest forum' to check if there's someone interested in a remake of the book.

If you have any questions or objection, feel free to let me know through IM.

Mage magic

well its not a big deal but Mage magic can be very vague and some might get confused on what you can do. Remember that there are rankings of wizards in Middle-Earth that are noted by the colors in which they wear.(White being the highest) So this may help you in showing how powerful you are. Just a piece of advice. Also, they are seperated into certain groups like the Istari(Wise Ones) and others. The color was just a ranking in their league. Like white was for the chief of the Istari and when Saruman left the Istari and went with the Dark Lord Sauron Gandalf emerged as the heir to the ranking of Chief of the Istari. Sorry if some of my information is false. Not sure exactly how it is but I am pretty sure on most of it.

Hi Dragonlady.

Some advise regarding your character, what you do with it is up to you and Esaul, of course.

Mage magic is not the best term for what you are trying to describe.
You're an elf, thus would naturally be using elvish magic, which is not the same as that of the Istari. The latter use a combination of magic spells from all races. So I would simply suggest to drop the word Mage. :)

If either of you wish to have other advise, feel free to contact me by posting here or dropping me an IM.

Sorry for the double post, but obviously those aiming to join up on this thread have little to none knowledge of the setting.

A blade that nullifies magic, this in an era (3rd age) where only the ishtari and the bearers of the ring of power have magic left....

the underdark, drow.... Middle Earth, not D&D, wrong setting!

I think I'll ask this to be closed, as obviously there is no serious interest.
