Everyone and anyone is invited to this thread. Please post your character sheets in here.

There aren't many rules aside from the normal everyday rules.

Those who live in this village are free to post consistantly or sporatically or not at all, depending on your choice. Though, I would like those currently there to at least make an appearance so that the village doesn't seem deserted.

I'll be playing Saegle Darktime, Callia Silvermoon, Zynx, Tinsel, and Coby. Seeing as they all live in this village. Arisoon, Alia, and Ventranolf are all still on their journey with Brightsky with them.

So is Alisha and Kreyl, remember? ;)

So, I'll be playing the Alia and Alisha's mother, Selina Evenstar-Daktime. :D

Name: Selinthansa Evenstar-DarkTime
Gender: Female
Race: Kagonesti Elf
Age: 155 years old
Hair Color: Jet-black, Long, Straight
Eye Color: Emerald Green
Build: Slim and Athletic
Height: 4 foot 5
Weight: 90 pounds
Family Origin: Silvanesti
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Rank: Red Robe Mage of Lunitari

Background: Selina's father - Ketherenlas Evenstar - was a high ranking Mage in the Tower of Light in the elven land of Silvanesti. Her mother - Karaaathala Evenstar - was a Kagonesti slave that worked in his household. The two fell in love and married, only to be banished to the human lands when the Speaker of the Stars found out about the union. The family lived among the Kagonesti in the Quailnesti Forestsfor a time, where Karaaathala became the new leader called the Pathfinder.

On a trip to the Human city of Haven, the family was robbed and raided by bandits, during which Selina's parents were killed. A 10 year old Selina was found and taken to a nearby orphange, where she lived until she was adopted by a cruel human couple who mistreated the young elf horribly. After a beating that took Selina to the doctors office, she met a Human Red Robe Mage that told her she had the gift of magic. The kindly man then took Selina in as an apprentice and taught her the ways of Neutral Magic.

She lived with her Shalafi for years, coming and going from his Tower in the Sentinal mountans outside Solace. She went along on most of his assignments as well. Then one day about 3 months ago wile on the rode, she and her Master were attacked by Draconians. Her Master was killed while Selina was captured. She was captured, tortured, an beaten for a month until he was able to escape to the nearby village of Fernwood.

Here she met the Kender Tassana Burfoot an her friends and family. She made a home for herself in the Inn. Within a month of living in Fernwood, Selina met and fell in love with Tassana's oldest son Saegle DarkTime. Within days of that, the elf and demigod were married in the pressence of friends, family, and the gods of magic.

Selina is now the mother of two beautiful half elves; her son Alia, age 20, and her daughter, Alisha, age 17. Her children are not at home, however, as they are on a quest with their unle Arisoon, cousin Ventranolf, Brightsky, and Selina's best friend and bodyguard, Kreyl Strongheart.

Selina worries for her family, mostly her daughter, Alisha, as nearly all the boys around her, family or not, have an attraction to her.

Appearance: Selina is small and slim. Because of her fight training as a Mage, her body is somewhat athletic. Her jet-black hair hangs straight to her bottom, and she prefers to let it hang loose. She has big emerald green eyes that sparkle with every emotion she feels. She dresses in Kagonesti clothing.

Personality: Selina is quiet and shy, but can be angered if provoked. She is strong willed, knows her own mind and is very intelligent.

Weapon(s): Magic, Mage Dagger, Longbow

Waaaiiii!!
Fernwood Hath Return-ed!

For those who don't know: Fernwood's a village on the road from Thorbardin to Tarsis. Small, very odd but amusing village.
Don't worry if you don't know much about the DL setting; over the years FW's sort of become it's own little pocket dimension. Sort of.

My old FW characters:

Name: Solarinthariustilaronmelia (Solar)
Race: Gold dragon
Age: Since my knowledge of the Krynn timeline is somewhat shoddy, not specific, but fairly old (for a dragon). Older side of adult.
Gender: Female
Appearance(Draconic):
Solar is of average size for a gold dragon, with a long serpentine body and deep gold scales.

Appearance(Human):
Solar is about 5'7, with curly metallic gold hair and yellow eyes.

Background:
Solar served with a unit of the Whitestone Forces during the War of the Lance, and made friends with a young silver named Quicksilver. After the war, when she found out her mate had been killed, she came to rely on her friend, and befriended Verdia, Shade, and the white twins. Eventually, she and her friends came to Fernwood, at different times.

Name: Kwiksilveranosthanelo(Quicksilver)
Race: Silver dragon
Age: Adult, not specified...I really need to find a Krynnish timline....
Gender: Male
Appearance(Draconic)
Quicksilver is average size for a silver, average in his spellcasting ability.

Appearance(Human)
Quicksilver is 5'8, with short, metallic silver hair, silver eyes.

Background:
Quicksilver met Solar during the War of the Lance. He was a young dragon, and she was one of the older dragons in the unit. Solar helped him during the war, and it developed into a strong friendship.

(I should have stats for their kiddies written up soon, surprised I still had these around...)

Man, I was reading the first Fernwood thread a while back...these characters have come a long ways. Originally I had twin white dragons(Skull&Bone), a black dragon(Shade), and a green (Verdia) as well as these two.

Two have been killed off (Skull, and no one really cared except her twin), and Verdia. (That...was hard. I didn't even -like- her character when I first made her, but she really grew on me.)
Shade is presumed still alive, though they haven't heard from her in many, many years. Bone is also presumed still alive, though they haven't heard from her since she left Fernwood after her sister's death. Incidentally, none of them particularly cared, except for Solar.

Verdia left Fernwood around the time Tassana Burrfoot passed away, tired of having a pointless life of ease.
As a young adult (for a dragon), she wanted to see the world. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving, she was killed by followers of the dragon overlord Onyxsablet.

The dragons pursued her with the intent to kill and devour her, and the panicked young dragon hurt her wing, falling into a narrow, rocky gully, leaving the frustrated dragons unable to reach her body.

Quicksilver and Solar heard her mental cry for help, and Quick immediately took off. Unfortunately, he was too late, and couldn't even reach her body to give it a proper burial.
The black dragons who had pursued her faced a war-trained, very angry silver dragon, and Quicksilver brought one of them down. The other barely escaped, with grave injuries.

I wanted to let you know that I'm making a map of Fernwood. I don't know where all the homes and businesses are, so I'm gonna need ya'lls help.

So far, I have the forest to the west, the road to the east (those are obvious). E Asha 'A Mellonea is to the upper northeastern corner, there to greet travellers and Tassana's home is to the lower southwestern corner, near the forest. The town square (that hardly ever gets used) is in the middle. I need locations of the other homes so I can pinpoint them.

When I'm finished with the map, I'm gonna post it up on deviantArt for everyone to see.

Great idea, Tassa! :D

Alisha now lives in Tassana's home, it being left to her.

Hmmm...where has Kreyl been staying?

I had an idea for a character (more like "entity") for this thread, but I wanted to run it by here first to see if it would be acceptable or just totally off-the wall.

I don't know anything about Saegle except what I've learned through reading these posts, but his physical vulnerability to his own emotions intrigues me. My thought is that some sort of shade or ghost would be drawn to him, with the ability to channel negative energy his way, while at the same time being strengthened by the unique reaction that this creates in Saegle. The origin of this undead entity could possibly lie in Saegle's unique emotional/physical interactions, or it could have a separate exisistence on another plane, but is drawn to Saegle's unique characteristic.

Let me know what you think. I'm interested in developing this idea more if you think it will fit and make for an interesting story.

Avenging_Angel
04/13/2006 10:26 PM

Welcome, welcome, ByDaylight!

I can't speak for your character, since Saegle's Tassy's character, but always good to have fresh meat in Fernwood.

tassanaburrfoot
04/17/2006 6:14 AM

I like the idea. I think it would be very interesting to see how Saegle can handle something like that. Besides, Fernwood can always use some action in it.

There was a shadow element by the name of Minoa who used to reside in Fernwood. Well, not really reside. He was trapped in a flute that this little girl named Krystal had. A fairy named Reiha helped Krystal to release Minoa, both thinking Minoa was a good guy. Turned out, he wasn't.

With Tassana Burrfoot and the Black Magic god Nuitari's help, they were able to destroy Minoa. However, in the process, I think Reiha and Tassana both ended up pregnant. Reiha with Minoa's daughter, and Tassana with Nuitari's son. Reiha had given birth and then perished, leaving her child with the other fire fairies, I think. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, anyone) Tassana's son, Saegle, grew up in the village.

He looks a lot like a drow, basically, with the ebony skin and white hair, though his hair looks as if it were dipped in gold. And he's short, because of his kender heritage.

Later on, Reiha's daughter, Ariekne, returned to Fernwood. She met Saegle's children and Saegle's brother, Arisoon. Now she and the children are travelling Krynn, seeking out various objects for Saegle's sister, the drowkender Callia Silvermoon.

So, yeah, seeing some more stuff would be interesting. Right now, Saegle and the other villagers are pretty much getting over Tassana's death. So, a lot of the people are in mourning. They need something to snap them back to reality.

ByDaylight
04/17/2006 9:22 AM

So is Ariekne the same child that went to live with the fire faeries for a while? At first I was thinking that I may be able to weave that disappeared child back into the storyline as the emotional leech that I envision, but on a closer read it looks like she has already been re-introduced to the storyline.

ByDaylight
04/17/2006 12:17 PM

Also, could you give me some details on Tassana's death? I think that may be important for the character I am developing ;). Sorry about all of the questions.

tassanaburrfoot
04/18/2006 7:13 AM

Not a problem. I am more than happy to answer. After all, it is important that you know.

Tassana was... 132, I think, when she died. The oldest kender ever to live. Since she was 20, she hadn't aged. The three gods of magic had put a spell on her to keep her from aging. Course, she didn't know about that. She grew up with elves, so she really didn't know the lifespan of kender.

After her 132 birthday, Gilean had come to the three gods of magic and told them that they either had to let her die or bring her to eternal life. Course, Nuitari, being Tassana's lover and father of her two sons, wanted her to come and live on the Black Moon as an immortal. Solinari knew that the kender was getting old and tired. If not in looks, then in her behaviour. He wanted the kender to join her friends that had already passed on. Lunitari wanted Tassana to make her own choice. What the kender thought was best in her own heart.

So, the three gods came to her home and gave her the options. Either live with Nuitari on the Black Moon, or go in peace with her friends that have already left this life. They gave her a month to decide. They also took away her youth, turning her into the old lady she truly was.

She went to her family and friends of Fernwood and talked it over with them. Naturally, some agreed that she should become immortal and some thought she should go with her old friends. In the end, she decided to go with her old friends. She died and was buried in her garden.

Luni put up the whole thread on her deviantArt. I don't know if you wanna look at it or not. It goes through more detail about what happened, how each of her children felt, and so forth. Here's the link, just copy and paste it into your browser. It's pretty long, so, you've been forewarned.

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/19311913/

It's done in parts, so you might have to actually go through and get the rest.

ByDaylight
04/18/2006 10:24 PM

Thanks, Tassana. I may read the details of the story as needed, but for now I think I've gotten what it essential from your helpful post.

With that, I present my character:

Names: Darkistarth, Leech-Nadir, Brightest Tear, Manic Laughter, others
Age: Ancient (unknown)
Hair Color: Varies; typically black
Eye Color: Varies; typically white
Build: Slender
Height: Varies; typically 6 ft
Weight: Incorporeal
Environments: Hidden Vale, Prime Material Plane
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Personality: Darkistarth is a creature that feeds on emotion. It (from here on out, D will be termed he for readability) energizes himself by leeching emotions from other creatures, and so is drawn to those with intense or uncontrollable feelings. Being a creature of chaos, Darkistarth enjoys a varied emotional pallet, and gets equal nutrition and satisfaction from both dark and light moods. What he needs is intensity, and he seeks intensity of emotion rather than simply a foul mood or a happy one.

As well as being parasitic, Darkistarth has a unique ability to feed emotional states. That is, when he is around, his hosts moods are likely to become more pronounced and perhaps unstable.

Background: Darkistarth has a very nebulous beginning. He started as a hazy, unfocused seed of fear, guilt, and other negative emotionsemotions that were projected by various beings in the depths of the ages. As this seed germinated, it began to seek out these dark emotions as a seed does light, and after an untold time of absorbing the losses and fears of mortals, Darkistarth nearly screamed in despair. But he had no voice. A thin shadow moving in the darkness, he moped without effort through several planes, and gained the whispered name of Leech-Nadir. During this time, he continued to baste in fear, ignorance, hatred, loss, and other dark emotions until one day, warm tears formed on his featureless face. As these streamed downward, eyes formed at their source, and deep wrinkles and furrows were cut out by their unceasing flow. The tears began to pool on the lower part of his face, eroding a mouth which began to sob. The sobs went on for days, then weeks, and Leech-Nadir was incapacitated, reduced to a shaking, helpless dark young man, cradling himself in the fetal position.

After a long, long time, Leech-Nadir stopped shaking. He felt a warm light on the back of his head and hands--a strange sensation. Rolling on his back and opening his eyes for the first time, he saw light, and heard it. He heard the light as rippling laughter, as a sound foreign to this one who had spent too much time in the hollows of hate and darkness.

In this great awakening, Leech-Nadir found himself experiencing intense feelings--feelings so unlike the ones that he had felt in his youth that he completely lost himself in the experiencing. He wandered, laughing, crying different tears, lost in the new experiences, the mysteries of speech, light, laughter; sound, sight, taste, and smell. He saw other beings, but did not know them. They were translucent, shimmering, hazy, here one moment but gone the next. Often they whispered his new names in strange tones: Brightest Tear, Manic Laughter

All of that was centuries ago, when Darkistaroths own nature was a mystery to him, one just opening to be explored. In these times, the one called Leech-Nadir, Brightest Tear, Manic Laughter, and so many other names, knows himself better, but not completely. He loves life, and desires to immerse himself completely in experience. Especially, he wants to know others, to truly experience them. In doing this, he follows his keenest sense and his means of communication--his empathy. It is what has brought him to Fernwood Village, a place ripe with grief, loss, and other strong emotions.

Hey, does anyone know how I can get around all of those squares popping up in my posts? I often type things out in MS Word and then paste them in here. I have a feeling that might have something to do with it. Squares are distracting. They're also... well... SQUARE. :P

Hi, I'm Luni - Another Sage, and the creator/owner of Saegle's wife, Selina Evenstar-Darktime. I like your idea, but I have a question. See, Selina and Saegle are bonded - they are telepathic with each other, as well as feeling each others emotions.

How would D effect this, and Selina?

Well, I have an idea for a character and wouldn't mind joining. One problem, I can't remember if I still have his info saved... and even then, I don't think I ever finished him. Guess I better start digging through all the stuff on my computer. Fun.

Coolies! I like your idea, BD. It'll be interesting to see how he plays out.

And Eagle, you gotta show me what you got. You have any old villagers? Like, people who would still be there or something? I know you used to be in the village a lot until Luni, Angel, and I highjacked it. And Kalia... She helped, too.

However, any character would be cool. I'm just a curious kender.

ByDaylight

Hi Luni. I think it would depend on the level of the empathy and telepathy the couple shares. From what I've seen so far in this thread, the empathic connection seems not so immediate; that is, it seems like something that needs to be focused on--not automatic or passive. Really, I haven't sees any indication of it in the thread so far; they seem to communicate in the normal married couple way: through talking and picking up on each other's emotions, which I think differs from directly experiencing each others' emotions.

That said, I plan to work Darkistaroth's empathic leeching on Saegle. If Saegle and Selina are bonded telepathically and empathically, I would expect Selina to experience some of the effects, but not the full force. To my mind, the experience would be filtered some--weakened--as it reaches her second-hand.

At the same time, I don't know that it's really my call to make. It seems like you, as Selina's player, would know better what effect an empathetic parasite like D would have on her through Saegle; and I would imagine that you would role play however you feel is appropriate. Certainly I am not going to dictate effects. My intention is more to create antics--strange, emotional antics to be sure--but I am not going to write, "Saegle feels overpowered and depressed," or "Selina feels a very small tinge of sadness." I plan to create creepy (or shiny) scenarios that will play out in images, smells, sounds, and other sensory experiences, and I will leave it up to the other players to react/respond.

Sound fun? :D I hope so.

They are strongly onnected in both ways. It just hasn't been seen to much yet, since the thread just started. ;) However, it has been shown in previous threads (like Decision Day, the one in my DeviantArt link that tassana mentioned - however, it has some adult shadings and may not be able to be seen from my public page, because of the Mature Warning. If you want to read it, contact me, and I'll send you the file :))

As for your ideas for the effects on Saegle, I like the ideas too. And, since Tassa and I work well together, there are definately possibilites to work with involving Selina. :D

Okay well here is my character. Hope he is good enough. I'm sorry but, this is sort of a rushed post so hope that everything seems okay. Will answer any questions about my character that I might have missed putting in the History part.

World: Altora
Name: Barda Falion
Age: 22
Eyes: Sky Blue
Hair: Blonde and short
Skin: Tan
Build: Medium
Appearance: He wears a white silk cloth underneath his white cloak. Also has ancient ruins from his own realm tattooed to his body. The tattoos cover him from his legs to his neck, like some sort of armor. He was born with these tattoos and has yet to discover the meaning of the ancient runes.
Weapons: Along with his many spell books, some daggers, he also has a magical staff that increases his power and the staff itself can shape shift into any weapon he desires. This staff has a white jewel encrusted on its top and the staff itself twists around the jewel and shelters it.

History: Barda comes from the world of Altora, a world where war is common and evil roams freely. Mages are neutral parties that do not interfere with the world and stay in their city in the sky, Delato. The 10 Elders rule the mages and govern all aspects of the city. They believe that the world below does not need magic and that it should solve its own problems without help.

On the earth though, the Dark Mage Calcifer, was conquering the land of Altora. No one could stop him or his dark army that was empowered with his dark magic. Many people cried to the heavens, pleading for the mages help. The 10 Elders killed any mage who dared help the people. For they had a deal with Calcifer, he would not attack Delota as long as mages did not help the people of Altora. Secretly, 4 Elders had been corrupted by Calcifers powers and were helping him.

In 4 years time, Calcifer had gained control of the whole world. There were only a few who dared fight against him now and they were called the Guardians of Freedom.

When Barda was only 16, he found out about the 4 Elders and went down to the earth to help the Guardians. In secret, he fought for 6 years, hiding his identity, becoming a Guardian. By the time he was 22, he was a great mage/warrior with many followers. People gained hope from his victories against Calcifers forces. They began to call him the Hero of Altora. Yet Calcifer had many spies within the Guardians and soon found out who the Hero of Altora really was.

At first, he was outraged to find that a mage was helping the Guardians but thought that taking out Barda would be a crushing blow to the people. So, he informed the 4 Elders that Barda was helping the people and that he was not pleased. The 4 Elders told him not to worry, and that they would take care of Barda. The 4 Elders then informed the other Elders of what Barda was doing. The 10 Elders teleported Barda to Delota and tortured him for rebelling against them.

Barda tried to tell the 6 Elders that the other 4 were evil but they wouldnt listen. When they tried to kill him for his betrayal, the ancient runes on his body protected him like magical armor. They also stripped him of his staff which all mages use to channel their magic. Deciding that they could not kill him, they erased his memory and opened a portal to another world. They banished him into the portal and he was sent to Krynn&

meh... perhaps I'll use a more established charcter, as Arya has now been snagged for the *cough* club 777 *cough....

perhaps Hiaku? he could add an interesting twist...

Name: Hiaku Seimiya

Race: Oriental/Planar dragon

Class: Fighter/Alien Mage

Nature: Neutral

Demeanor: Teacher/Nice Guy

Age: Approx 300

Height: Dragon: 63 feet from nose to tail (approx 19 meters)
Height to shoulder: 7feet ( approx 2 meters)
Wingspan: None
Human: 5 11 (approx 1.8 meters)
Weight: 179lbs (approx 81 kilos)

Appearance:

Dragon: Hiaku is a dragon from 'our' own earth, an oriental dragon. His colors are blue and silver, his belly is silver and it darkens gradually to a dark violet blue on the furred ridge on his spine. He is long and sinuous, like all oriental type dragons. he has a planar traveling ability, though he cannot move through time easily, he can move through in an instant if he chooses, but the ability drains him and he cannot do it often.

Human: Hiaku looks Elvin by Krynnish standards, save for his rounded ears. With almond shaped gold eyes, and long black hair, he is quite handsome. He will normally wear his hear loose and unfettered, and dresses in his traditional cut silk clothing. He does wield a sword, but prefers to attack in his true form.

History: As mentioned, Hiaku comes from our own world, and was a River Guardian. When his river was destroyed by humans, he set out wandering, in search of a new home. He was found and tricked by the demon Zakuro Shijima. Thus enslaved he was used to try to bring the powers of Krynn to their knees. During an attempt to escape, he met up with Wylin Majere and her aunt, Karina. Thus began a strife-filled relationship wrought with betrayal, intentional and unintentional.

Coolies! You're bringing in Hiaku! *Dances* I've been wanting to see him in action.

I'm afraid I may be unable due to an upcoming absense. I'm not even supposed to be here now...Shh! Anway, details posted in The Staff Lounge in the topic Angel posted for me called Computer Troubles or something.

It's just been bad timing and bad luck.

Val may use Selina as needed.

My apologies.
