This RP will be permanently open for new players to 'drop in'. Once you're ready, simply stroll on in and enter 'The Dungeon'... At your own risk of course. ;)

But before you do so, please take note of my 3 simple rules;

1. Post you character here in the OOC and get it approved by either me or one of the players I've appointed before posting in the RP section.

2. I know this is D&D orientated, but lets try to keep things as realistic as we can. No defying the laws of D&D physics, and no ridiculous 'super characters' with over-the-top special powers. Keep in mind, I don't like over powerful characters, if I don't like you, I'll be more inclinded to try n' kill you. :)

3. Please try to keep OOC talk here in the OOC. That's what it's here for!

And that's it. Any Questions?

Here's a character template of the basic information I'll need to know about your character before you can join. Some of the details are optional.

DarkRogue
10/02/2005 11:38 PM

Name: Rogue

Race: Undead

Sex: Female

Age: Appears 18

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Rogue/Necromancer

Special Skills: Dark Sight; all lighting penalties reversed (Permanent)

Background: As a human, Rogue was a working theif/rogue, finding her way to the top of the Thieves Guild. Being an orphan from birth, she was brought up by an honorary member of the Guild, who came across her while on a task for the Guild Master.

From there Rogue learned how to fight and how to make a living from others, her theivery skills that she had been thaught from childhood had earned herself a reputation as a one of the trickiest rogues in the Guild, when she was only 15 years of age.

Cunning and Ambitious, Rogue did not only steal for herself, but also accepted deeds from others, mostly of Dark nature. That was when a deed changed her life for eternity.

The hooded man who walked into the tavern and headed straight to recruit Rogue was no ordinary mage - he was a necromancer, one of the Path of Dark Light, the evilest of all necromantic paths.

The task he asked of was a grusome one - a slaughter more than a thief - as he asked for the sacrifice of the innocent, around a hundred of fair maiden to stolen and taken for him for a sacrificial ritual. Rogue, pitiless for the lives to taken, agreed upon the offer, seeing the pay was right.

The ritual happened right before Rogue, she had felt nothing, but the Dark Magics in working then. Unaware of the curse that she had sealed since she accepted the task; the curse of Lichdom, or the blessing for most necromancers.

Soon guilt ridden for her actions. A few weeks after the ritual, she killed herself. However, she did not stay dead. The Dark Aura that she had been in presence of, was so strong, that it allowed even she, that had little to do with the actual ritual, to return as undead.

Rogue now travels from places to another, studying the Black Arts in search of the cure for her unwanted blessing. She does not use them whatsoever, unless needed, as she has developed a hatred to magic over the years of her damination.

Appearance: Overlarge greying black ragged robes. She usually appears at a untidy state. White uneven shoulder-long hair. Crimson red eyes. Unnaturally pale skinned.

Inventory: Rusty Throwing Daggers, Rusty Poisoned daggers, Crude Staff, Crude Lockpicks, Vail of Poison.

I'll gladly change it if you think it's too powerful...

Excellent! All three characters have been approved without any enforced changes.

I was going to suggest the first few players form up together into a party, but reading the descriptions I don't think that would be likely.

You can begin posting in the RP section whenever you are ready.

Welcome to the RP OneBeautifulSoul, your character has been approved, though I am curious about your choice of no alignment. I think that all characters should have an alignment, I simply left that optional in case anyone wanted to keep theirs a secret.

In case you don't understand the concept of D&D alignment, click on this link for a brief description and/or a fun test to find out your own alignment;

[url:http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20001222b]ALIGNMENT TEST

SPECIAL SKILLS: Fantastic arching, some word fighting and excelent at dagger throwing.

I take it you meant 'some sword fighting' here, right? ;)

You can begin posting as soon as you have clarified your alignment situation. :)

Ah, well, if it's alright with you, this looks like good fun:)

NAME: Jinnar Magatami

RACE: Human

SEX: Male

AGE: 26

HEIGHT: (Optional)

WEIGHT: (Optional)

ALIGNMENT: Varies, chaotic, generally evil/neutral

CLASS: Ah, I don't know D&D classes very well...a fighter, though I don't know what sub class...

SPECIAL SKILLS: Excellent sword fighter due to years of practice.

BACKGROUND INFO:
Jinnar was the son of a noble family from the east. When his father died, his elder brother, already mentally unsound, was further unhinged by the sudden responsibility, and became insanely paranoid, and caused him to kill Jin's younger brother. He slowly grew worse, eventually only trusting Jin.

He became more and more paranoid, and wound up killing Jin's "significant other" because he believed she was trying to kill him.
Jin, desperate, finally confronted his brother and murdered him. Badly injured and banished, he makes his living as a mercenary now.

APPEARANCE:
Tall, somewhat pale looking. Hasn't had a well-paying job in a while, so rather skinny. A large, nasty looking scar from the middle of his cheek, near jawbone, down onto his neck. (right side)
Black, long hair (pulled back into a tail), dark green eyes.

INVENTORY: One bag that he carries on his back, containing extra clothes, some food, a few pieces of paper, matches and a candle, carries a long, narrow sword at his side, knives in wrist sheaths.

Well....I hope I did alright...

kawai, I'll be honest and tell you I really don't like your character. For some reason I get the feeling that he's going to be supa dupa powerful. Also, before I'll approve a character like that, he'd really need to have a very good, convincing background story. Something a little better than...

BACKGROUND INFO: He was put in jail when he was 12, then escaped at 15. For 4 more years he was pursued by knights and bounty hunters, he managed to evade them all

At first I was reluctant to approve DarkRogue's undead character, but he managed to sway me with a very good, convincing background story. I'll trying to be fair, I'll say to you that IF you can come up with an equally good background story I'll approve your character. But to be honest, do you REALLY have to be a Demon? I'd much prefer it if you created another, more 'normal' character.

One last thing, a suggestion, why not create a [url:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiefling]Tiefling character? That would be cool.

Past: he was raised in the kingdom of Ebony where his father tought him some sword skills, he was killed by a giant snake thing(don't ask) Samuel wept for days afterward, he never did get over it. When samuel was 12 his mother became ill, he tryed to get a potion for her. Sadly he had no money, his love for his mother drove him to steal it. He was caught later on that day before he even got home, he was flogged then throughn in jail. There he met Moon, a shapeshifting wolf mage(no hes not in this rp) Moon cared for him like a brother as did samuel

3 years passed..... It was the day of the kingdoms ball. Moon and samuel had a plan to escape, samuel never knew moon could use magic. After chanting a few words a fire ball blasted down the door, samuel and moon ran out. They wondred why there were no guards or anyone for that matter

They came to the ball room, everyone was hypnotised. Moon and samuel walked up to random people and poked them, nothing happened. They smiled and ran off, never to be seen again. What they didn't know was, a mage much like moon only evil and human had hypnotised them. He was after the queen, a mercenary you could say.....

kawai, you only typed three average sized paragraphs.

does that sound good? or at least semi-good?

No kawai, unfortunately that does not sound good. It was filled with spelling mistakes and didn't really explain what I really wanted to know. It read more like a list of events which had taken place in Samuel's life, rather than summing up exactly what, why and who Samuel really is. Sorry kawai, but I'm still not approving your character. Feel free to have another attempt if you want to, but maybe you'd be better off looking for another RP.

kawai, my spelling is not always perfect, but I usually take the time to check with a [url:http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=%s]dictionary whenever I'm unsure about a certain word. There is also a Thesaurus there which is also extremely useful and will help you to improve your posts.

oh yes i did read it, hes not evil at all though

Did you read the part which stated ' They are predisposed to Evil alignments though by no means are they always Evil.'

Also, why didn't you mention anything about Samuel not being evil in your background story. Demons are normally considered to be evil, so an explanation as to why he is not would have been the kind of information that I was actually really looking for.

I assumed that was obvious, the fact that your Demon character is of good alignment is an important point. It would have been sensible to explain the reasons why he is good, since Demons are usually evil.

Anyway matey, I'm really not trying to have a go at you here, I'm simply trying to help you in for in the future. No hard feelings, huh?

NAME: Todd Mister

RACE: Yaun-ti, half blood

SEX: Male

AGE: Adult

HEIGHT: 8ft

WEIGHT: (optional)

ALIGNMENT: Chaotic/ Good

CLASS: Monk

SPECIAL SKILLS: Strategical applications to situations, can speak Abyssal/Draconic/ Yaun-ti/

BACKGROUND INFO: Yes, yaun-ti corrupt powerful occult snake creatures which lurk about in an underground society waiting to take over the world. But some how Todd wasnt raised with all of that. A short period of time after he was birthed there was a grand campaign to rid the yaun-ti from the surrounding areas to put an end to their terrible raids and corruption. It was a fine endeavor and though the soldier had won the battle many of the yaun-ti escaped deeper within their tunnels.

One soldier, a mercenary, soldier for higher always looking for a quick piece of gold, thought it would be wouth something to sell the hides and other parts of slain yaun-ti as exotic items. But he too had the idea to capture and sell a young one, could you imagine the price one could gain by a person wanting a yaun-ti body guard!?! or how about to raise to pit fight!! and so in the midst of chaos of the Yaun-tis flee this soldier of fortune captured the young yaun-ti Todd.

However, in being sold the yaun-ti was purchased by a monk. Completely opposite by nature, the monk believed that it was by ones nuturing that determined what they became and so instructed the yaun-ti in the ways of the monks. Though where monks learn and abide by a set law, Todd had difficult with his restless spirit seeking peace of mind and finding it cluttered actions. For some reason when it seemed as if all hell was breaking loose that he was able to focus the easiest and see the solution, were as it took his master a calmed meditation to come to the same conclusion. Having matured and learned all he could from his master, Todd set off on his own and to find any knowledge of his kind.

(((I could expand a little more, I have a yaunti monk of the same alignment where he is dumbed down in power alot...ie limited psionics and spell like abilities and is treated more like a Barbarian Monk)))

APPEARANCE: No legs, Snake tail, Snakes for arms, human head, scales for skin. Has a bald head and handsome facial features. Scales are a grey and brown mix with some green near the scales tip. Instead of hands are snake heads, and when expecting to be in public clothes himself in a long brown robe.

INVENTORY: A belt around where his waist would be which has small compartments on it. There holds his small amount of coins and a necklace that was given him as a gift from his master. The necklace is a leather strap that is decorated with a creatures tooth and feathers from a couatl.

As I said if you want more story I can give it. I know the Chaotic monk thing is out there since Monks must be lawful. But as I said Id dumb down the yaun-ti traits so as not to be too powerful of a character...unless you agree and want to permit all of their nifty little things.

no, i just thought of something funny

kawai - What are you talking about? Is this actually relevant to the RP?

Aaron - Damn you guys are really testing me! Does no one choose plain and simple old school D&D characters anymore? ;)

Alright, you've obviously put a lot of thought into this character. I'm slightly skeptical of the chaotic alignment with a monk class, but I guess I'll trust you enough to approve him, though be it somewhat reluctantly.

One last point. Isn't 'Yaun-ti' actually spelt 'Yuan Ti' ?

Aaron
10/10/2005 11:54 AM

I do normal characters, I have a human fighter in the Glimmers Quest thread. As for why I didnt choose one for this, Im not much one for the quest for fame glory and treasure, with the Yuan-ti ((you were right on the spelling)) story it adds a slight understory and the question what actually lies within dungeons and depths of the forest of this lost city. Are there really yuan ti down there, or was it a false lead that now landed him in an unneeded dangerous situation? But like I said I wont be ubber with him.

You see I posted that I injured the gnome, but that was when er...the gnome's companion pushed him aside. Getting the chance to actually attack the gnome on the neck, therefor you could finish him off easily. So, either the gnome is hurt and pigging out or nobay noticed the attack my dog made on him. But even so, I've decided to edit my pst to not make things more complicated. I'll just see what I can do to introduce myself.

OneBeautifulSoul...I'm afraid I'm a little confused still. What I didn't understand in the first version of your RP, and what I still don't understand now is, who is this gnome?

Aaron
10/10/2005 7:15 PM

I believe the gnome was just something random she thought would be fun to encounter nearby the others campsite. I guess she was probly expecting for someone to either hear the encounter or say if Joff was to go collect wood in that area and see them. Thats just what I think she was thinking with the gnome, thats its really nothing much of inportance...

And entering into the Dungeons, thanks for accepting the strange monk of a choatic nature.

OneBeautifulSoul
10/10/2005 11:00 PM

Oh, thanks for trying to explain Aaron. Now, I'm confusing everyone, pay no attention to my two last posts. You see I thought that 'Wenzel' was a gnome and the attack from 'Kiar wa headed towards him. I think I confused the part in which 'Wenzel' said the map was given to him by a gnome...I feel dumb now. Sorry you guys, I modifed my post, yet gain to get the story running. *sweat drop*

Alright kawai, you've been persistent, I'll give you that. Maybe you've just caught me in a good mood today, but for some reason I'm going to approve your character.

TAKE NOTE KAWAI: I will be expecting quality posts from you. Put some of that persistent effort into re-reading your posts and taking the time to check your [url:http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=a]SPELLING. If I feel you are not pulling your weight or not putting in enough effort, I guarantee your journey into The Dungeon will be a short one.

kawai

oh sorry, but can't Lark help alittle?

Aaron
10/20/2005 6:31 PM

I had the understanding that three ropes were tossed down...one held by the Assassan, the other tied to the horse and the third by the new comer who seemed lost.

Regardless since this is OOC my character cant really use a rope anyway seeing as he has no hands...so theres no way for him to tie it around himself and I gather would be difficult to attempt to grip...I mean have any of you tried to hold onto somthing with your mouths..no teeth, but with your lips or gums? yeah kinda hard. though of course at best the only one who could know this is Rogue...and yeah the wolf, besides those I dont get how any others could see an earth colored figure in the depths of a poorly lit hole...

Im just sayin...oh well...

-------

l____l

((Thats a crude drawing of the roots protruding from the side of the hole which Todd is wrapped around and which Rogue is sittin atop of. appx 50ft above the base and Id say about sure 40ft from the cielling mouth)) Any clarification?

[Edited by Aaron on Thursday, October 20, 2005 6:36 PM]

DarkRogue
10/20/2005 6:49 PM

Okay, this is how I see it...

There are two ropes...
First...
Dropped by Dangrel's Character, but due to it's limited length, it didn't reach me and Aaron, as it is 5 ft shy.
Second...
Is a very long one, given from Kalia_Majere to someone, to toss it down...

I understand that kawai wrote to his post replying to Kalia_Majere and toss her rope down...

As for the depth of the hole...
I clearly stated that it is 50 ft far from the bottom to the pair cliffhangers...
As for the remaining depth (from opening to pair) I'd say about 10-20 ft., considering Greystoke being able to see the tunnels below with the torch. But I recall nobody has stated that yet, so I'm not quite sure...

I suggest that kawai edits his post to clairify himself receiving Kalia_Majere's rope so that it would be more rational, than having a person dropping down another rope for no reason at all...

How's that?

[Edited by DarkRogue on Thursday, October 20, 2005 6:57 PM]

Aaron
10/20/2005 7:01 PM

Acceptedable by me for the rope explanation.

However the distance from the mouth to where the characters hang should be more than 10-15 ft...so 20ft at least. Reason I say this is that rope is typically at least 20 ft in length when sold. so it would make since if it were five ft shy cause it would be folly to try to anchor an end with only an inch.....so me and rogue are 20-25ft deep into the hole??

DarkRogue
10/20/2005 7:16 PM

Sounds fine by me...
But I'm not sure what the others will think of this, so I'm going to hold the post of me calling to be pulled up back until this comes to an agreement... ;)

And a reminder in case some of you have forgotten...
I possess the ability of Dark Sight which reverses lighting, meaning that some things in the darkness that I see, might not be able for you to see, reversal logic to lighted places... :P

If you ask me I think its all just weird, I'm sorry but what an asortment of people there is;

first of all is this Lord Greystoke a paladin? If so may I state why hasn't he atempted to destroy the liche?

Second is if the rogue is a liche then why does she not use magic? Liche are normaly evil spellcasters.

Third is this wolf character a shapechanger or just a wolf?

Forth I thought this Kwai guy was refused!

Sorry can you just clarify these thing for me they're just a little weird!

Flark

Why does everything always kick off when I'm offline? (No need for anyone to answer that)

Anyway, it's good to see most of you are coping extremely well and are making good use of the OOC.

Here are the main points which have warranted my attention...

Kawai: I'm going to back up what Kalia said and ask you to edit the post where you were 'supposed' to have recieved the rope. Please try to read all of the posts carefully and add a bit more detail to your own. Remember to state your character's actions as clearly as possible.

Balthazar_Estat: Didn't I ask you to read the whole RP before posting? If you had, I'm sure you'd know the answers to most of these questions...

DarkRogue
10/21/2005 10:01 AM

Balthazar_Estat...
I stand by what Flark has said and I also strongly suggest you read others' character info more carefully...

Rogue now travels from places to another, studying the Black Arts in search of the cure for her unwanted blessing. 'She does not use them whatsoever, unless needed, as she has developed a hatred to magic over the years of her damination.'

Kalia_Majere

if you read my link to my character carefully, you would understand what Jennah (the wolf) is. She is a wolf, albiet highly intelligent. Able to communicated with Ayeka as they were bonded at a young age. Jennah can speak telepathically with Ayeka though a link that I've refered to as the "Packsong". She can communicate with those who have a telepathic gift, but she must be staring into said persons' eyes.

Please read my link (In my first post here in the OOC) to read up on Ayeka and what she is and what she isn't... THank you.

First note Rogue, Snakes are cold blooded, as are Yuan-ti if I recal correctly.

Also, I think there need to be slight alterations to the last two posts for the horse just began to pull, while in Rogues she makes no note of it just calling out theyre ready to be pulled up....unless its to be one of those things which happens from each end noting different points at different times.

Also, the Creature is in a brown robe, and has a human head that doesnt have scales on it, though is still without hair. Meaning that it would have to take abit of a second look to notice what he is.

Sorry there, I wasn't sure how much human traits in a half Yaun-ti there is, so I unwisely assumed the possibility that you should at least have some body heat, which is enough to set me on fire. I'm no expert in the Yaun-ti, so I'm also sorry for not checking this point before posting and I'll edit my post.

The post I made is incomplete, I've just noticed (Damn). I was in quite a hurry to see my friend at the hospital, that I forgot to paste the remaining of my post when I edited it. No matter, it'ss still not an excuse to be slacking off, so I apologize for that and I'm off to paste the remaining. So that we can proceed.

Also, the Creature is in a brown robe, and has a human head that doesnt have scales on it, though is still without hair. Meaning that it would have to take abit of a second look to notice what he is.

If you are refering to my previous posts, I believe that was writing in a third point of view and I may not have written the part where I recognized you were a Yaun-ti, but I have written in the manner that I have acknowledged your race only after you have helped me up to a better position, revealing your arms.

Gee...
I feel like a total fool. Just a simple distration from my friend seems to be enough to drop the quailty in my already unhelpfully, bad Rping. Anyway, I hope that I've cleared off most of the problems I've caused and sorry for the trouble once again. My english's not too well, so I guess that some of the explinations up there and most of my posts should be kinda hard to digest, so I apologise in advance for any improper or/and weird english that you have came by before and might meet later on.

Oh, almost forgot...
Thanks for the reminding post, Aaron.

Hey Dark Rouge I was only pointing out the cold blooded thing to you. Dont take things so hard and your english is perfectly fine, as well is your RPing.

The point out of the two post was just an inquiry, which I thank you for clearing up.

As for the point about the robes and such was directed towards Kalias post noting her perception of our characters rise on the surface.. I am well aware Dark Rouge thatyou took note of Todds clothing.

first of all is this Lord Greystoke a paladin? If so may I state why hasn't he atempted to destroy the liche?

It was never mentioned that he was a particularly perceptive or even intelligent paladin.
The initial concept was the knight from the Terry Gilliam's film Jabberwocky.

Balthazar Estat

Um, this may just be me but how does a Fighter decend from the sky(?) and than casts spells and such? It just seems abit wired to me...though I know more info got sent to Flark which we arent privy to but that just seems alittle out of character seeing as how theres nothing about magics or spell use in the sheet. I just find that odd...

Balthazar_Estat
11/09/2005 6:04 AM

Sorry guys its part of the character, its needed to make things more interesting.
Also if you ask in character then he may answer you.

Aaron
11/09/2005 2:12 PM

So far In Character my character has no need to ask your character anything. If it comes out that your just some skilled hunter than he may care to inquire of how you came upon them. As far as he could be concerned you were already in the tunnels, heard the crash, and than came to investigate...for no one in the hole actually would have seen you descend down into the pit...except maybe DarkRouge.

its needed to make things more interesting.

The key to RPing since this is a newbie thread, is not to make things interesting but to make things have some sense of reality. To do that you have to do things subtle like. Down play somethings and not always have an answer to everything. The chance you have a healing potion in your adventuring gear is understandable, the fact you just happen to have all the right spells handy would leave me to believe that you are a cleric and not a fighter.

If you want to make things interesting it is done with the storyline, the suspense of what is around the next corner. Characters that have an answer for everything kill such things, those who come out of no where just by chance when help seems to be in need...its something that is overused and amatuerish.

Sorry for my long rant, lets just say such things are a pet peeve of mine. Cause this form of RP is like writing a story and I hate it in stories where things just always seem to work out...there needs to be hardship, something to overcome, where they have to move on despite injuries...

Also not everyone has responded if they fell into the hole or if they remained up top...your post kinda over looked any of that.....Im not trying to scare you off or bash on you its just what one of these newbie threads are for, so we can critique one another, so than we wouldnt have to get scolded by Dark Elf Damien.

Well all I can say is, you'll see.

Balthazar, Aaron makes some very good points and you would do well to listen to his advice. Like he says, he's not trying to be critical, he's trying to improve the quality of the RP and to help you improve your roleplaying skills. Although I approved your character and his secret, I didn't grant you a licence to be all conquering. I'm not saying that you've overstepped the mark or anything, I'm just reminding you so that you don't.

Balthazar_Estat
11/10/2005 10:12 AM

Ok, I'll take the hint. Sorry guys, and Flark I'll try my best to keep it on the low.

Aaron
11/10/2005 10:39 PM

Hmm I think that almost gave the secret away there...though rule of thumb, save a secret for when its needed. Like I said if all you do is use magic than it makes you look like a cleric...if thats what you want and to just surprise people with your master sword skills than fine, but I think it wouldve been better if youd stick with the fighter idea and than fire off spells when some powerful creature is least expecting it. Wait for your new comrads to show their worth so than you dont go around wasting spells.

And I give you warning now, I may be fairly new to this site but I know how to RP in many forms, and am a moderator/ megamoderator on another site. So dont think for a second I dont know of what Im speaking.

Balthazar_Estat
11/11/2005 12:44 PM

Well I will tell you now he only uses spells to increase his fighting prowess, and he has many a secret so don't worry about him. Just roleplay YOUR character and leave me to do mine.

Aaron
11/12/2005 2:37 AM

DarkRogue - About the gemstone. It has a special power which you will be able to sense only upon touching it. Hello again Nikki. I'm glad to see you made it here in one piece... :)

I've only got one slight concern with your character, and that's with his background. I'm not too happy about him having sold his soul to The actual Devil. For some reason I don't think it would be appropriate incorporate The Devil into a standard D&D style RP. I'd feel much happier if you could maybe just change this to a powerful demon or something, (of which you can make up the details, and give as much, or as little information about as you like).

Upon making that slight amendment, your character is approved and you can join in whenever you're ready.

NikkiLoveGod
11/27/2005 9:30 AM

Yes ofcourse, i was starting to think my self, that it might be too much. Yeah, powerfull demon sounds alot better! I hope you dont have too much planned for that gemstone of yours! Flark
11/27/2005 12:46 PM

Nikki your post is good except for the fact that you have majorly controlled characters other than your own.

The whole idea of the RP is that each player controls the character that they have created. Admittedly now and again controlling another player's character is sometimes unavoidable, but it should be kept to a minimal whenever possible.

Sorry Nikki, but other players can get a bit pissed off when someone else controls their character. Just imagine if someone else controlled your character and made him do something that you really didn't want him to do.

Therefore I'll have to ask that you edit your post to remove the parts where you blatanly controlled characters other than your own.

Apart from that it was a good first post. Don't be discouraged, we'll get you there. :)

Thought the thread was starting to look a little in active and so decided to give it more than just a two part dialoge.

Flark Ill leave it up to you what that creature may be...though I was thinking Minotaur or a young purple worm...but like I said, up to you.

Flark
12/08/2005 9:49 AM

Thanks for that Aaron, I was wondering if this thing would ever pick up again. I think you're right, we could use something to liven things up a bit. I'd been trying to allow for a little character interaction, but clearly that isn't working...

Time to kick some butt instead...

Okay listen up people. Our numbers are great, but our posts are few and far between. Shortly you will be attacked, those of you who don't post to control your characters will run the risk of being killed off. You have been warned...

Aaron
12/08/2005 12:34 PM

Well I kinda got the idea from that post you had with the beholder...you know where they were all having like a monster meeting. Figured that they control the caverns and knowing what had dropped in on them would send something to greet the party.

I didnt wanna risk more undead cause it seems people kept trying to be buddy buddy with things. And for some reason when I was writing up my reply Tremors came to mind. Im wondering how others in the party plan on responding, cause to be honest I dont think the worm will be easy to beat.

Flark
12/11/2005 9:05 AM

Sorry Balthazar, you really should have seen that one coming. As a regular poster, I didn't really want to kill you, but I felt you left me with no other option. May I suggest you act with a little more caution and try to be a little more realistic in future. Try not to take it personally...

Aaron, I agree Balthazar should not really have been allowed to attack again so swiftly. Unfortunately since I'm trying to get things moving again, I wasn't prepared to waste time asking him to edit his post. He had already been warned about that sort of thing. He made a mistake and payed the ultimate price...

OneBeautifulSoul, I was hoping you would return. That was a good catch-up post. As for being killed, well I hope everyone has learned something from Balthazar's error...

Flark do you have an external IM of any sort? I have MSN and AIM....(I think I have Yahoo too.....can't remember)

Flark do you have an external IM of any sort?

I'm afraid the instant messager kind of thingy doesn't seem to agree with my computer, except for the RPGC one that is. I'll go switch it on.

I'm sorry but seen as I am now dead everyone can be told of my secret. I am a greater DEMON! An Incubbi, known for there resilience and beauty they will attack RELENTLESLEY.
I'm sorry but I wasn't warned at all! I think that if you had given me a chance I could of made this interesting. IF someone manages to revive my corpse then message me. If not I shall do my final post.

Aaron
12/12/2005 2:46 PM

I thought the warning was clear when I made a point about the whole flying in and stuff like that...but oh well, kinda quick way to kill a greater deamon....wonder how that was able to get past two characters who deal with such and a paladin who should have a natural affinity for hunting things down...

Oh well....the story goes on.

Flark
12/12/2005 2:51 PM

Balthazar, you did indeed suceed in making things interesting, all be it only for a short while...

And thank you again Aaron, I also though that warning came across quite clearly...

I approved your character and his secret, I didn't grant you a licence to be all conquering. I'm not saying that you've overstepped the mark or anything, I'm just reminding you so that you don't.

That along with Rule number 2 at the begining I think is warning enough...oh well.

Everyone - Sorry, there guys. I got grounded and internet access revoked for fighting at school (again). Anyway, I'm back ang ready to hunt some orcs!!

Rogue! :) I was worried you might have been axed in the RPGC EXODUS, but it's great to have you back!

Let's try to keep the fighting inside the RP thread from now on, eh? ;)

I'll try my best, Flark... For my own sake... ;)

Don't thank me, thank Balthazar for taking out my worm before I had chance to kill anyone! ;)

Balthazar - If you even bother reading this. Thanks! It was nice Rping with you. Even if we didn't even interact directly... oh well. Just saying I'm really really grateful and don't take what I said in the Rp seriously... seriously.

And I was just wondering Flark...
If you die in one character in this Rp could you re-enter as another one...?

Flark
12/18/2005 7:54 AM

To be honest Rogue, your character wasn't really one of those who my worm was going to eat...

And I was just wondering Flark...

Yes, but you'd have to get the new one approved again.

EDIT:

Sorry, I missed part of your question.

lol... What's the RPGC EXODUS anyway...? (Does it even exist...?)

Yes it's real. The RPGC has deleted the accounts of lots of Initiare members who have not logged in recently!

Id figure the worm would have cared for more...colorful food...thats why I didnt figure my little snake buddy would have been devoured.

Glad to have Rogue back in the game...I was starting to think Id have no one in the main party to interact with. Not saying he wouldnt but just that so far Rogue is the only one.

LOL, my little chaotic monk is nice and safe for the time being. All teh other players are target practice. Though the thing with my monk and his chaos is that he gets more and does better in battle...thats how he hones his skill, like a barbarian. But unlike the barbarian he isnt stupid so since his mission over rides, than he rather not fight less reveal himself. Though yes there seems to be a few who I think will be dead soon :)

Hey Flark I hate to say this but feel free to kill off my character or use him for your own purposes.

Oh dear, it will be a shame to lose you as well, but needs must I suppose... :(

OneBeautifulSoul:

Oh dear. Someone got a little carried away there, wouldn't you say?

I'm sorry OneBeautifulSoul but must ask that you either edit or delete your last post. It was writted well enough, but you seemed to forget the important aspect of roleplaying in which you only control your own character. Yes, I know occasionally people do, but the idea is to keep it as minimal as possible, and only when necessary.

Let's be fair, Burgh Boneshaker is my character and you completely took control of him for a prolonged fight sequence, in which I had absolutely no say over and inevitably lead to his death. Would you like it if someone had done that to your character? I wouldn't think so.

If you need a reminder with how a fight sequence is supposed to be carried out, then take a look back at 'page 5' of The Dungeon RP, at the fight between Kalia's Ayeka and my skeleton. You will notice that we each perform an action or strike, then allow the other a chance to react to it.

Let's try something a little more like that, shall we? :)

Aaron

~~ Just my little side imput since Im not gone yet...from my experience in playing DnD, Ogres arent that easy to kill off. Even my chaotic monk wouldnt be able to take on a seasoned orge which this Burgh seems to be.

Though Flark :

Would you like it if someone had done that to your character?

If you are implying of taking control and killing her character, being the GM you have all right to do so. Whether she likes it or not doesnt matter. So its always best not to piss off the GM...control posting pisses off GM. ~~

Flark
01/08/2006 11:46 AM

If you are implying of taking control and killing her character, being the GM you have all right to do so.

Thanks Aaron, but to be honest I don't even like the idea of GM's controlling other peoples characters. The only times I have done so is when the players have gone AWOL and I've had no choice in order to move the story on. That's with the exception of Wenzel, in which case I was given permission and used him to further the story.

So its always best not to piss off the GM...control posting pisses off GM. ~~

True, but OneBeautifulSoul need not worry, I'm not pissed off... So long as she edits or deletes her post, that is... ;)

Flark
01/12/2006 8:38 AM

DarkRogue, an easy mistake to make, but at the very end of your last post you stated;

The lich began coiling the rope she found from her late fellow assassin around her waist for keeping as a belt on her tattered robes.

If you check back you'll notice that Razkir and Tod were the only two characters who weren't actually killed, they've simply disappeared.

scavenging some items that might come in handy later on; Razkir's coil of rope,

This part is fine because we can assume you found the rope discarded on the ground, but could you please just edit out the word 'late'. I would greatly appreciate it because I've got plans for Razkir if Dangrel does not return soon. :) ;)

Ack! :O

I've been real busy, but I'll try to get back in the flow of things here.

DarkRogue
01/13/2006 4:09 AM

Flark- Whoops. :P ;)

Dangrel- I thought you were dead, too. Anyway, nice to have you back. I'll give you back your rope after you post, but only if you want me to. ;)

Kalia & OneBeautifulSoul-
Just a small thing here. The lich's name is 'Rogue' as in a dishonest or unprincipled man/mischeivous but likable person, but both of you have spelled it out with 'Rouge' as in a red powder or cream used as a cosmetic for colouring the cheeks or lips.

I know I might be sounding unnecesscarily fastidious, but it's kinda a small pet peeves of mine. With people calling her name, that I've carefully thought out, weird whenever I play her, you know? So, using her name correctly would be very appreaciative. Thanks. :)

Flark
01/13/2006 7:52 AM

Ah ha, Dangrel returns! It's good to have you back because as were getting a little thin since my very own Dungeon Exodus. It seemed a shame to waste your character, so I was planning on stealing him and using him for myself. ;)

You can get back involved again anyway you like. Razkir could have sneaked off alone for whatever reason, or simply have been hiding around in the shadows to avoid the goblin/ogre attack. I hadn't planned anything specific for him, only the fact that I was going to assume control of him...

Welcome back. :)

And thanks for the edit DarkRogue. :)

Congrats on your new Senate job, Flark!

Thanks Dangrel.

And don't worry, your character shouldn't be lonely for too long. We may have a new character for you to interact with soon, all being well...

Tamachi
01/23/2006 5:39 PM

Hey all, Im Tamachi and I do believe I may be the new character that Flark is speaking of. So, heres my character sheet, hope its up to par&

Name: Kelintraaghar

Race: Drow

Sex: Male

Age: Hes actually 124, but his apparent age is around 21.

Height: 410

Weight: 110 lbs.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Thief

Special Skills: Hmmm... Does Jump and Balance seem fair here to everyone?

Background: Much of his history is unknown, (even to me, because this is off top of my head&) but what is known is that he has not been to the Underdark for sometime. Born the elder son of a high ranking house matron mother, he was displeased with the level of authority and rank he could obtain. When he got the chance to leave, he took it, and thats been around one hundred years ago, and since then he has honed his skills as a thief of the night, silent and deadly within the shadows&

Appearance: When the hood most often worn does not conceal his head, one could make out a handsome face, charming in a way though at the same time cunning, despite the slash-scar on his left cheek. His silverish hair falls down a bit above his shoulders, though normally pulled back one could also see his slender red eyes&

The hood can of course be let down, blending in with the scarf like appendage that makes up the entirety of it. It is a loose black garment that overlaps his shoulders, dipping down to his chest and back in an arc. Under this he wears a loose fitting black shirt, long sleeved, though at his wrists it is wrapped tighter than the rest&

A piece of fabric, rather large, acts as a belt to separate his torso from his lower body, which is covered by the same type of fabric as his upper body, once again wrapped tightly at his ankles to about mid-shin. The dip of the crouch extends to mid-way between his waist and knees. His shoes are black, low-cut so as not to hinder movement&

Inventory: Wakizashi made of steel, its sheath is located on his back in a \ fashion, with the hilt facing downward to his right side. Three daggers also made of steel, on is on the left side of his belt, one is concealed under the wrapping of his left sleeve, and the other on his back, the hilt facing upward on his left side near his shoulder, under his shirt. Average Lock Picks located under the wrappings of his right sleeve. Pouch a pouch at his back, on his belt above his belt, contains a rope, three health potions, and a few gems from his last excursion. Nothing spectacular, more eye-catching than anything. Armor He wears leather armor on his thighs, shoulders, and the sides of his torso, though it is of little help with sharp of heavy weapons&

Alright guys, I think Im done. Sorry for the poor quality, but I decided this was best instead of trying to re-vamp another character that Im not even finished with. At any rate, Im going to be reading up on the thread in a bit, Ive already finished the OOC section, and after that Ill be onto role-playing&

That is, if theres no objections, eh? If so tell me, Flark or anyone else for that matter. This thread is just as much yours as it is mean, less mine since Ive came so late. Flark has final say though, so how bout it mate, am I good to go?

EDIT: I just added my skills that I hadn't been able to find yet, shouldn't be much of a problem I dont believe, but just tell me if there is...

Kalia_Majere
02/03/2006 5:52 AM

okay to help get this moving, I want to bring in Ayeka's brother.....well, her half brother...

Name: Touga Drache

Race: Asuli (Pureblood vampire)

Class: Fighter

Nature: Chaotic Neutral

Demeanor: Dictator/ Ruler

Age: Apparent: 23
Actual: 130 (when he died)

Height: 62 (approx 1.9 meters)
Weight: 190 lbs (approx 86 kilos)

Appearance: Medium build, well muscled from years of intense training at his fathers hand. In appearance, he looks much like his father, but has his mothers compassionate disposition. His mother, the Lady Lissa Lyon, died when he was four. He has his fathers dark red hair, very nearly the color of Iron Maple leaves in the fall. His eyes are a blue the color of ice in the deepest winter night. He has a regal bearing that Ayeka lacks, and anyone can tell that hes a predator at heart.

History: After the death of his father, Lord Adrian Drache, Touga inherited his title and lands, it did not matter to his people that he was part of Adrian Draches downfall. Touga became fiercely protective of his sister and her newly forming family. When her youngest son was abducted by a twisted Coriel, he blamed himself, and he did everything that he could to see her family reunited.

Touga died at the hands of their archenemy, Taryn, the same twisted Coriel that had abducted and corrupted Ayekas youngest son, Adrian. Ayeka was devastated by his violent death.

Stories he appeared in:
Nightstalker I: Beginnings and Betrayal
Nightstalker II: Fate of a Child
Nightstalker III: Loss of Innocence
Kiss of Death
Nightstalker Interlude: Nights Breath
Future Fellowship I (briefly)
Character Insight/Song: Touga at first was supposed to be evil, but the Nightstalker story changed so rapidly I had to change him to look misguided, tricked and led by his fathers cruelty. His memory was so tightly shut away, that in hindsight, I wondered if I shouldnt have had his Father suppress the memories. Thanks to his blind belief in his father, he betrayed the only person who actually cared for him... his own sister.

After the first story, Tougas character became more complicated. He continually berates himself for his betrayal, even though he never mentions his anguish to his sister. Ayekas lifemate, Alucardt, senses Tougas torment, but is at a loss on how to assuage it. Touga wants to regain his sisters trust and belief, but he feels that even if she does trust him, that he would never be worthy of it again.

When Ayekas youngest, Adrian was stolen from under his care, Touga wished he had died in the attack, that they hadnt bothered to save him... and he vowed that he would find young Adrian or never return to Ayekas trust again. His death was a terrible blow to Ayeka, who had felt closer to him than she had in years.

Ofcourse, his usage here suggests he's still alive (duh...) (and as this isn't a dragonlance setting ;) this path may be entirely different...)

Flark
02/03/2006 7:30 AM

Kalia your character's arrival is fine. We certainly needed something to bring this place back to life as I had almost given up. :)

Sorry tho, I don't know if it's just me who's not with it today, but is Touga supposed to have sensed the presence of Tamachi's character? It's just that I thought he was already inside the Dungeon, while your character appears to be outside... Or am I somehow mistaken?

NAME: Lemolin Chorll

RACE: Human

SEX: Male

AGE: 40

HEIGHT: 6'1"

WEIGHT: 160 lbs

ALIGNMENT: Lawful Neutral

CLASS: Mage

APPEARANCE: Lemolin is a man of regular build, but maybe slightly taller and thinner than average. He has grey hair, and an almost comical looking large but neatly trimmed moustache which protrudes from his face. He has brown eyes and youthful looking features for his age, despite the silly moustache.
He usually carries a wooden staff and wears smart looking robes and a cloak, of which is preferred colour is 'midnight blue'.

BACKGROUND: Lemolin is a mage of average prowess, but is best described as an opportunist. He has charm and wit in abundance and which he constantly uses to his own advantage. He rarely turns down the opportunity to help the foolish part with their valuables, and shows no remorse in doing so. By no means a greedy man, Lemolin spends his gold fleetingly. Shameless in his showmanship, he is often over generous, especially in the presence of women.
With a soft spot for antiques, he is also an amateur archeologist.

Hello Flark, :)

I was wondering if I would be able to join in this thread?

I've been following it and am up to date with what's happening. I know it's chock full of characters already but, I'd even be willing to play it alone just for the sake of practice.

The character I have in mind is a bard. Let me know what you think...

Thanks,
Sway~

Flark
03/10/2006 1:12 PM

Hi again Sway, of course you can join in. To be honest we could really use some new characters to liven things up a bit. When you're ready, post your character here and I'll take a look...

Sway_Greenwitch
03/11/2006 4:33 AM

Okay Flark, here she is.
Let me know if you have any suggestions to improve what I have so far or what changes I need to make for her to be an acceptable character.

NAME: Meadow Larkspur

RACE:Human

SEX:Female

AGE:25

HEIGHT: 5'6

WEIGHT: 125

ALIGNMENT: neutral good

CLASS: Bard (storyteller/singer/ musician)

SPECIAL SKILLS: Meadow plays the lute and the flute. She is trained to work with ropes and whips. She weaves spells along with her music.

BACKGROUND INFO: Meadow's bardic talent is an inherent part of who she is. The prized skill has been passed down for generations through her family on the maternal side. Each woman in her family has used talent to different ends, some becoming singers and musicians while others authors, actors and poets.
Meadow is just one part of a large traveling family in which she grew up wandering across the land learning to gather lore, tell stories and work magic with music. Her family makes a living mostly on the gratitude of their audience. It is the only life she has known.

Since she has always traveled with her family she has never had the chance to have an adventure not related to them specifically.Meadow longs to have a story of her own to tell or sing about. She thinks that getting away on her own or joining a group of adventurers might help her with this.

With what little money she has, Meadow has left her family to strike out on her own in search of a party of adventurers so that she might have a fresh new story to tell and sing about. If she happened to benefit from finding some treasure in the meanwhile she would not be sorry.

APPEARANCE: Medow has black unruly, very curly hair that reaches midwaydown her back. This abundance of hair frames a very genteel looking oval shaped face with thin arching eyebrows and large almond shaped eyes. Her smokey grey eyes are lined with khol to accentuate them( a trick of the trade).A pert little nose leads down to full raspberry tinged lips that always have an amused look about them unless she is displeased about something, then they take on a petulant look.

She is of medium body build. She doesn't quite have the body of an athlete but has firm muscle tone especially in her arms and legs.

Her attire when traveling is that of an explorer's outfit: leggings and tunic in muted tones of green along with brown boots. Her entertainer's attire consists of silks in soft red ,pecock blue and warm amber colours.

INVENTORY:, wand of cure light wounds (50 charges), haversack, silver flute, lute, bedroll, bell (2),bottle, bullseye lantern, caltrops (2 bags), chalk (3), crowbar, explorer's outfit, entertainer's outfit, flask, flint and steel (2), grappling hook, ink, inkpen, manacles, map case, masterwork musical instrument, musical instrument (2), oil (2 pints), piton, rations (3 days), scroll case, sewing needle, thread , signal whistle, silk rope (150 feet), small steel mirror (2), spade, tent, torch, waterskin (filled), whetstone, 99 gp.

Aye, the first is always the easiest, and I think that's so because you don't have to worry about anyone else being involved most times, and you can compeltely control what happens since often times you are the only one involved. At least that's how most of mine are. But anyways, where are my manners...

Nice to meet ya Sway, I'm Tamachi as you can most likely tell by reading, and I'll most definately be looking forward to meeting you in both threads. I'm sure Flark's already offered in his mail, but I would also like to extend my hand to anything I can help you with. I'm not all that knowledgable but I'm sure if I can't help you I can find someone that can, particularly Flark, lol...

Aye, the first is always the easiest, and I think that's so because you don't have to worry about anyone else being involved most times, and you can compeltely control what happens since often times you are the only one involved. At least that's how most of mine are.

I think you are absolutely right Tamachi. I agree wholeheartedly.

Nice to meet ya Sway, I'm Tamachi

Pleasure to meet you too Tamachi. :)
Don't rush too quickly to meet me, I would hate to disappoint.

I would also like to extend my hand to anything I can help you with.

Thank you for the generous offer; I might need to take you up on it someday.

I'm not all that knowledgable

I believe everyone has something to offer others, so please don't underestimate yourself. :)

Me again, :)

I have a question already! * chuckle*

My question is regarding the order of posting. What exactly is the protocol?

Do I have to wait for the others to post before I post again? Or, can I post, seeing as I'm still on my own?... with the exception of the dire wolf of course.

Please let me know, so I don't mess up the order of things.:)

Thanks,

Sway~

Hey Sway, now worries, that's a common misunderstanding. This being Free Form roleplaying means there is actually no real order of posting. The only real no-no is a double-post by the same person on behalf of the same character, but that's just common sense really. In fact this whole style of roleplaying is all down to common sense. It's all fairly chilled out stuff with very little, if any planning behind it. No one actually knows what anyone else is up to, we just make our posts and see where the story takes us... But keeping in mind I'm the boss. ;)

Thanks for clearing that up for me Flark. I figured it was something like that, I just didn't want to step on any toes or anger anyone" Better safe than sorry" you know?

Is that a hint for me to relax a little? * laugh* I think I'm just a little anxious, being new and all.
Oh... and believe me, I know you're the boss. I've seen what happens to the over zealous!

Thanks again,

Ooooh! If you'd have me, i'd love to join in as well.

****

Name: Asmod "The Demented"

Race: Human/Vampire

Sex: Male

Age: Unknown, possibly several hundred years. (appears to be in his late 20's)

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 125 lbs.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Necromancer

Special Skills: 'Speak with Shadows' (see below)

Description: Asmod was once a promising and respected mage, scholar, and engineer long ago. However his life, home, and who he was, was forgotten long ago after his "rebirth" into undeath. Tricked to serve as a thrall to a powerful and mysterious dark entity for many years, he escaped servitude from this foul agent by orchestrating his own death. Unfortunately not even death could fully release the full extent of his masters clutch upon his soul, for as he broke the bonds of his servitude with his own death, so did his master curse him to never realize a true death.

Asmod's mind did not deal well with his death and subsequent rise into undeath, and it shatted his psyche. Asmod's reality is obviously not the one that everyone else is a part of. (Nor is his view of the laws of physics.) When it comes to personalities, Asmod is a one man party. He detests physical violence most of the time, preferring to either manipulate others to do his dirty work for him, or to just ignore the situation and hope it goes away... sometimes to disasterous results.

Bieng "touched" (pun intended) by such darkness has given him some small measure of power over the nether. He has a limited form of control over the dark powers (necromancy). Wherever he goes, a keen observer might even think they saw the very shadows themselves bend slightly towards him in his passing...

For all of his insanity, he can occasionally have incredible moments of lucid clarity. When caught in these rare states, he can actually be quite intelligent and wise in advice once you see through his quirkyness. Sometimes during these rare moments, he has occasionally been known to 'speak to the shadows' and foretell certain events or details in cryptic manner. He always seems to understand the cryptic messages perfectly, but unable to clarify them to others (whether purposefully or not) if the message presented is vague and cryptic beyond comprehension.

Appearance: Asmod appears very thin, pale, and ungainly. His long, unkempt deep red hair strays about wildly as if searching for a comb. His thin, perhaps once handsome face is centered by a crooked grin and two beady eyes that constantly twitch and dart about. He seems constantly nervous and twitchy.

His right arm is entirely sleeved in bizarre tattoo's depicting dancing skeletons, leering demons, and tribal style artwork. He keeps covered in ragged wrappings and bits and pieces of bone strapped on, artfully pieced together as almost a suit of armor would be. Usually he keeps his body well hidden from view however, with a large, thick, and musty black robe and hood that is patched with ancient dust and exotic-smelling stains. Most of the time he has a Shovel tied and slung across his back.

Hidden, crawling on his person somewhere is his "new Master", his sidekick and only true friend, his familiar pet, Precious. Precious is a rather large centipede with an oily black, spiny carapace, and can sometimes be seen crawling between his robes.

Inventory: Precious, a very ancient cracked skull, Shovel, A crowbar, A sack filled with five dead, stiff squirrels, a belt pouch filled to the brim with shiny rocks, feathers, broken bits and other such nonesense, quill and inkwell, a Journal, and an old childs doll (made to look like a voodoo doll) stuffed with several needles.

****

Yes, i'm guilty of having my character in the "I'm unique and special!" crowd, but i've recreated him from an old monster MUD i used to play, Grendel's Revenge. Although he is a vampire, he isn't very agressive or combat oriented, and it's more of a tool for his RP than anything really. I love him most for the fun and personality. (Or should i say, personalities?)

If it's too much though (This is kind of left-field) I can switch up to a more normalized character along the same lines.

03/15/2006 3:17 PM

I for one would say it would be too much considering we already have two such 'vampire' characters in the game... one more might put it way over the top... but since it's Flark's thread... I'd have to leave it up to him.

Ravenot
03/15/2006 5:39 PM

Ahh, ok. I did see that there were a few other characters (Demon, Yuan Ti, Undead, ect) of the sort so I was thinking it was leaning towards that norm for the game.

That bieng said, what are the limitations for this game then? I'm not asking as Power Gaming limitations (I hate powergaming), but RP limitations.

Kalia_Majere
03/15/2006 6:20 PM

gotta wait for Flark's okay on it , like I said it wasn't up to me :D

Flark
03/16/2006 9:08 AM

Hi Ravenot. :) Kalia does make a good point about all the powerful characters. I must say that was never my intention, it was something which just happened. To be honest this whole RP is pretty far removed from what I originally planned. Still, it's got a quirky, unique sort of charm about it.

Since your character is so well defined, I think it would be a little unfair if I made you change it after allowing so many others. If you do happen to have another character up your sleeve which you don't mind switching to, great. If not, just go for it...

As for your question about RP limitations, I'm not really sure what you mean. Can you be more specific?

Ravenot
03/16/2006 10:35 AM

Kalia does make a good point about all the powerful characters.

Ah... I think I wasn't clear enough. Asmod is unique in the "I'm not a standard race, i'm special!" (which I do know can get out of hand at times) and that's the part i didn't want to overus ... however, Asmod is FAR from bieng a powerful character. I probably didn't define his limits well enough.

Strength wise, a physically fit 13 year old could probably overpower him and give him a good beating. He will actively try to avoid most physical combat, preferring to get someone ELSE to do it for him. If he has to, he'll use his necromantic powers at his disposal, but then again those aren't anything overly spectacular either. (I'm thinking around the range of a level 10 Necromancer range of power) Probably his biggest offense/defense is his mental instability. Nobody really ever seems to want to mess with a REALLY crazy person.

The only powerful aspect I think he really has is his "speak with shadows" ability, and even then I think it's more of a powerful tool for RP and as a tool for the GM to use (at their option) as a more direct control of input into the game.

You could even switch him to a generic Undead really. I used the "Vampire" undead because I want Asmod to still *look* like a living human, (albiet pale and frail), where Vampires are much the same, as opposed to skeletal and rotting. I actually never play him with much of the vampire powers. No flight, shapechanging, any of that. Only the vampires unnatural resiliance and healing (So he can actually survive those occasional beatings :D)

Like i said, he's fun for the fun factor, not the power.

ANYWAYS, i'm the new one here and I want to use something that can fit into your campaign. You're the boss here, after all :) As for the RP limitations... The "speak with Shadows" thing kind of pushes normal character boundaries. Playing substandard races or classes, ect. That sort of thing. I have a tendancy to create colorful characters that are as unique as possible to RP rather than the standard fighter hero. I think that is a fine line that I to tend to walk with my characters, as it can be interpereted as a form of powergaming, since it is abstract from the norm often. I guess i'm the opposite extreme to Munchkins and power gamers... I'd rather play Nibb the drunken Kobold who doesen't speak common, than Korlax Uberdude, Warlord of the Northern Plains, wielder of Slayhaxxor the Flaming Vorpal Toothbrush of Doom.

Flark

Alright Ravenot, I do actually quite like your character, (he reminds me very slightly of Xzar from Baldur's Gate), so jump on in. :)

I think I see what you mean with the limitations thing now. I didn't really set any strict boundaries. All I asked was that characters were not over-powerful and that I check over and approve them before they join.

has anything happened with the arcs that include Touga and Ayeka? I got sidetracked and would appreaciate any summary if possible...

Flark
03/21/2006 11:34 AM

No really much to summarise. I'm still waiting for you to post since Ayeka and Lemolin were supposed to be heading towards Touga. They entered a chamber filled with fungi and Lemolin suggested they turn back.

Speaking to Kel' and Touga, Rarsh is waiting for a response by you or Tamachi to...

"No quarrel. Rarsh can be helpful if you no friends of Nexhertepes. Rarsh can give information that you ask, then Rash leave. Yes?..."

Tamachi

Ugh, that post took forever to write. Sorry it's a little wordy, trying to get introductions out of the way :) I had to resist making it into a friggin novel. Bad me!

As for Precious-
Strangely enough a two-foot long centipede isn't something much in the world of fantasy as it is in the world of reality. The Scolopendra Galapagoensi (Giant Galapagos Centipede) has been reported growing as big as 27". I learned that while looking for that pic I linked. And let me tell you... I own a Tarantula and Giant Hissing Cockroaches, and previously i've owned Millipedes and Scorpions... but centipedes just give me the friggin heebie-jeebies.

That pic makes me want to have a twitch-fit.

It's a great post, don't apologize!

There were alot of introductions to be made. * laughs*

Winkin, Blinkin, Nodd, Asmod....Precious.....* shudders at the mention of that last name*

Honestly I've never seen anything like that centipede before. It's one huge bug! Don't get me wrong it's intriguing to look at and makes a wonderful conversational topic but, I'd never want to own one thank you very much!

The thought of that crawling all over my body like Asmod... Agh! pass me the ultra strong bug spray!

Oh... and I wanted to ask you, do they bite/sting people in the real world?

Ravenot
03/24/2006 9:04 AM

Lets put it this way: I've owned and handled quite a few scorpions and have never been stung. (I think i have a pic of myself watching TV with "Lefty" somewhere.) I would NEVER willingly handle a centipede.

In fact if you ever talk to any centipede hobbyist/breeder they will tell you not to ever handle any centipede. (Even though they most likely handle them themselves all the time... and probably have the scars to prove it.) Almost every species is aggressive and all have some level of poison in their bite, ranging from mildly deadly if not treated, to just highly painful.

Think of centipedes as the crocodile of the bug world. You have to be friggin crazy to touch one.

Aaron
03/24/2006 2:23 PM

Well Flark I will read through thoroughly to see kinda what actually had happened....it appears as if the origional group died...? off and than it has now focused aound a newly formed group down in the caverns. LOL I think only Kalia recals my character...

Flark
03/24/2006 2:30 PM

The rest of them are dead...

Lefty heh...cute.
I've handled tarantulas before; I think they are cute. Not so sure how cuddly a scorpion is.

I didn't realize how little I knew about such a common insect...wow.
It would be interesting to see one up close...
Then again, maybe not.
I think it's bad enough that my character had one on her wrist. I was cringing just thinking about that! Agh!

I want to apologize in advance for my wordy post, replying to a mini novel takes some doing! :P * laughs*
