M'kay I'm gonna work on this one, even if I have to work on it alone ;)

I'd prefer mostly humans/elves and such in this one... no other vampires please :D I have no idea where this will take us, so we'll work on it post by post :)

Please Post any Characters/Ideas here for approval first :D

I have an idea, but I'm sot sure it will work. I tried to into him in glass's thread but it didnt go anywhere, so I think I'll try him here if you approve.

Name: Sokar (IE: Mythological reference, Egyptian Satan)
Race/Gender/Age: Human/Male/19
Height: 6.0
Weight: 125 lbs.
Build: very light build.
Hair: Black, charred
Eyes: Black, red durring 'spellwork'
Alignment: Chaotic evil

Appearance: Sokar is tall and always has 95% of his body covered by a very thick travelers cloak. His cloaks hood is always up and he is forced to wear gloves almost at all times. None of his body is visable to onlookers. Because of this people often mistake Sokar for a dark wizard but he never studied tower magic. Sokar is forced to wear these coverings because his entire body is covered in 3rd degree burns. This not only leaves him with hiddious looks, but leaves what is left of his 'skin' very sensitive to outside elements and infection. The robes and cloaks act as some megre protection.

Sokar has this condition because he took several shortcuts in becoming a powerful pyromancer. Though he succeded with his goal and is a pyromancer of tramendous power, his body is extremely frail and cripple. Also, the sorcery he works continues to damage his body. He cannot excert his power too often or too intensly, for if he does he risk death. Because of the pain of his condition Sokar is an extremely cruel person and takes delight in the torture of others. Though he wont go and outright kill people for fun he is not above the act for those who annoy him.

Sokar will do whatever he need to do to further his goals, no matter to costs to others. This also means hes not above helping others or fighting for the cause of good if it serves his needs. Often his goals are two fold, further increasing his substantial power and finding a cure-all for his condition. Sokar seeks to form a dark empire to eclips the world in his own darkness and anguish.

Though Sokar does believe in the gods and respects their substantial power he does not believe other-worldy being should influence Krynn a6t all. He loathes all gods, but again he is not above working for them if he needs to to obtain what he wishes.

Sokar has plans in his mind for the creation of the ultimate magical weapon, and though he still lacks the aid he needs to create it, should he it will increase his personal power subsatially. Little is know about his plans or how he came up with them with no magical or smithing training. Sokar is currently in Palanthas seekign the aid he needs to create his 'Hand of Sokar.'

Equipment: 1 poison tipped short sword (part time paryalasis, not long lasting)

OOC: I just wanted to say that your characters are awesome, and the way you fill in their lives, very cool. I cant wait to read up more on them. Even though it might take a while. A good, long, worth-while. Heh. Anyway, I would like to join in here sometime, but after you've gotten into the story a bit. ^_^

Heh, thats nothing. I've wrote/read character bios that are 5+ pgs.

07/15/2004 12:06 PM

Actually I was refering to the characters in 'thicker than blood', and 'full circle', but im sure that this adventure will prove as fulfilling as those. And in truth, the adventures are somewhat like bio's, whereas they fill in the characters past, present, and leave open room for the future. Assuming one doesn't die in the process. i couldn't imagine taking the time to write 5 pages about someone just to rp with them.

Sokar (IE: Mythological reference, Egyptian Satan)

At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all when I really know a lot less than I should, I'm going to have to correct you on this point simply because it is something of a pet-peeve.

The ancient Egyptians did not have a Satan-figure. Even Set or Setesh or whichever name you prefer, typically cited as the Egyptians' most "evil" god, was originally a patron of Upper Egypt and the guardian of the Sun Boat. It wasn't until later that the story of Osiris-Set-Horus caused him to be seen as evil and after that his cult fell into oblivion.

Sokar was originally the main, though minor, god of the Memphite funerary cult and was identified and revered as a manifestation of the resurrected Osiris. Later he became connected to Osiris and Ptah, both very popular gods, and was identified as both a god of death and a patron of life, mainly the lives of people who worked on tombs, etc. He was celebrated in one of their many festivals.

http://www.touregypt.net/godsofegypt/seker.htm This is the website where I pulled this information. I've never been very familiar with Sokar in particular (there are so many, you have to have your favorites) but in all the books I've read, I have never encountered him as a god of evil. In fact, that only place I've heard that he is evil was on Stargate SG-1, which, though I love the show to death, is very, very far from accurate.

I really hope this doesn't make you mad. The Egyptian mythology fascinates me, especially because of things like this. The concept of good and evil didn't seem to be the driving force of the religion and there was little conflict between many gods of the same thing (i.e. many creation myths existed at the same time with no problems), doing conflicting things...unless of course you have priests and then they want their god up front for obvious reasons. Anyway, I hope this taught you something and I apologize if I pissed you off...but I figure if you have a character (which is very interesting, btw) with the name, you might sort of, kind of be interested in the whole Egyptian thing.

I was told in passing that my original link wasn't working for the download of the Original Nighstalker story.

Try this instead:

My character in all of this will be an old member of the Nightstalker saga, but one I've rarely played. In the original story, my char Kiri-koli became the She'Endra of Ayeka, fought Touga and did many other wacky things. She grew up in the hidden Valley of the Vanished Moons, a place where the last vestiges of a forgotten order of mages--who wore silver robes and practiced rune magic with a magic powder they call Dust--were slowly losing their protection from the outside world. Kiri had a vendetta against vampires--as far as she knew they killed her parents and twin brother--and thus met Ayeka, yadda, yadda.

At this point in the saga, Kiri is rebuilding the valley, but her twin brother (of course, alive after all, hehe), Nîm-Jolin, is kinda roaming around. Their parents were killed by vampires, but because they had vampire blood themselves. Their children are each a quarter, but the "symptoms" of being part-vampire are so sepressed by their form of magic that Kiri did not know for most of her life.

Nîm-Jolin is different. He did not grow up in the Valley to which his parents were fleeing. Instead, he was seperated from his sister upon their murder and grew up in the wild with his own sporatic form of magic. When he finally found his sister again, she began teaching him the ways of her order, so he knows some of that as well.

He is a tall man, handsome, with the family's trademark wild black hair and shockingly green eyes. He wears a dirty, somewhat streamlined silver robe more suited to the life of a ranger. He comes and goes as he pleases, is often perplexing and somewhat primal. He is uncomfortable indoors and becomes claustrophobic if forced to wait with nothing occupying his mind.

Erm...yeah, that's all I remember about him. :D

I have an interest in Egyptian myths and such, but sadly I dont study it. The character I plan on using here was inspired by SG: 1's Sokar, so I used their god title since I had not studies any others. Thanks for the info though.

Many things from SG: 1 will mirror in my version of Sokar, as the show was a primary insperation for my first true 'evil' character. Things like Sokar's appearence (slightly changed) and his 'weapon' (riddon/hand divice) are being altered for the character as well. Hope thats not a problem. I'm also quite a Stargate fanatic.

I'm not exactly certain of where this thread is taking place... X_X

07/19/2004 1:55 PM

Where: Barbarian Plains North east of Solace
When: One month before the Chaos War

07/20/2004 7:56 PM

Stargate rules. Hehehe. Did you see the Atlantis pilot? I'm not sure what to think. It was amusing, but I hate the woman they replaced the original Weir with...and that other woman, the tribe leader...is she going to be an actual character or just a one-dimensional Amazon know-it-all?

*sigh* Writers. What are they thinking?? ;)

All right, let's get this bad boy on a role. Are we ready peoples?? :D

07/20/2004 11:16 PM

Heh, I loved the Atlantis pilot. I was very pleasently surprised. But there is a thread to talk about that in the TV forum, so I'd be seeing ya there maybe?

*evil smirk* As for the writers...oh well lol... they need to get it out somehow!

EDIT: I figure either one of you can run into Sokar as he searches for what he needs?
