How lord_of_moxie got into roleplaying:
At Scout camp one year, a bunch of us were sitting around with nothing to do. One of us suggested that we play D&D, so we rolled up quick characters (some quicker than others... after all, it was my first time) and played an incredibly entertaining game.

Some helpful hints for new players getting into RPGs:
Pay attention to the GM! Oh, and other players, too. But beyond that, just do what will get you some cheap laughs and NOT a lightning bolt up the butt.
