Member Since: July 2003 RK: 13 MP: 6,289 | Sunday August 10, 2008 6:06 PM It is indeed a great time for gaming - though Diablo 3 has virtually eclipsed everything else for me. I didn't think it was possible until I saw a gameplay trailer. Sure, the video trailer was cool as hell - I squealed with glee when I saw Diablo himself at the end, but as soon as I heard that bubbling potion-picked-up noise it all came rushing back. All the sleepless nights of dungeon crawling, all the boxes filled with mice broken from constant clicking... beautiful. I'm really psyched about Silent Hill 5, too - after Origins was such a disappointment, I'm hoping it can restore the series to it's rightful glory. Like Diablo 3, Starcraft 2's got me excited out of pure nostalgia - it looks a bit dated already, but fuck, as long as I must construct additional pylons, I'm in. Resident Evil 5 looks ace. I've waxed poetic about it enough as is. I'm also very curious about this new Prince of Persia game - I only actually finished the first game, but I played them all and they wrapped up the plot pretty tightly. I'll be interested to see what they're going to do with the new one. As much as I would love to have another one, I'm wary because it's in danger of wandering into pointless sequel territory. Here's hoping it can rise above The same goes for Bioshock - as great a game as it was, does it really need a sequel? I think not. I hear they're going to set it during the fall of Rapture, but this is still a pretty limited area to work in, and it may run into the problem that's plagued the Silent Hill series of becoming too familiar and stuck in a rut. I'd rather have the first stay a stand-alone game than be soiled by horrible sequels. Final Fantasy... what the hell are we on now? XII? XIII? Whatever. This series has basically lost me in the past few games - VIII was the last truly great FF game, IMHO. As soon as Squenix fires Tetsuya-Kingdom-goddamn-Hearts-Nomura, I'll start paying attention again. Left 4 Dead looks like it's got serious potential. Any game that lets me fight the living dead in a cornfield I'll probably play. Practice, you know - a survival simulation for future usage. I don't know much about Dead Space except that the trailer reminded me of the movie Event Horizon. Which was fucked up, and would probably make a great survihorr game. Same goes for Borderlands, except replace Event Horizon with Serenity. All in all, damn I wish I had any gaming systems under five (or even ten) years old. If they put as much detail into it as they say they will, there's going to be more detail on one badguy's weapon then some games put in an entire level. This thread's title seems to be fitting. ![]() 'Sic vis pacem para bellum' Sometimes I aim to please, other times I shoot to kill. "Enemies are the price of honour." "Now, we must all fear evil men. Member Since: February 2007 RK: 8 MP: 2,373 | Thursday August 28, 2008 2:52 AM Downloadable on XBox Live. It's very short, but so so much fun. And pretty much exactly like this "Just imagine the headlines 'Howard Moon, Colon, Explorer'. Got a ring to that don't it?" "Colon Explorer?" "You know what I'm saying." |

Too bad that it's short, but thankfully we don't have too much longer to wait for the real deal. Am I a bad person doing good things...or a good person doing bad things... - Dexter |

Member Since: July 2003 RK: 13 MP: 6,289 | Thursday March 15, 2012 10:39 PM I'm raising this thread from the dead, because every other goddamn game mentioned in it has already come out... except one. And we finally have a release date for Diablo III. It's real. It's really real. It's happening. Behold, as PC gamers stir from their slumber across the internet like the Great Old Ones, called by the sound of frantic mouse clicking. They mocked me for believing! They mocked me for remaining faithful! And now I shall be rewarded! *sobs of joy* Everywhere I go I repeat: I do not belong here.
