Brazil (!!!), Time Bandits, Labyrinth, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Tetsuo: The Ironman, Blade Runner, Blue Velvet, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th DimensionHonorable Mentions: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Spaceballs, Big Trouble In Little China, Full Metal Jacket, Airplane!, The Princess Bride, The Toxic Avenger, Videodrome, Back to the Future, Willow, Ghostbusters, The Dark Crystal, Akira A lot more than I expected really.. Edit: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home! Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more; it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. |

Member Since: May 2001 RK: 9 MP: 2,991 | Saturday December 11, 2004 3:02 PM I'll just name a few.Top Gun. Come on, how could you leave this off your list. New versions with yummy extras coming out on DVD soon. Robocop. I must have been like 10 when I saw this in theatres with my friend and his dad. Seriously freaked me out. I'm pretty much completely desensitized to movie violence because of this movie alone. Transformers the Movie. Naturally. This was the most violent cartoon I'd ever seen up to that point. I'd never seen anyone killed in a cartoon before, even if they were robots. I was a sheltered kid. And that leads me to... Akira. Still the standard by which I judge all anime today. A Better Tomorrow. John Woo's masterpiece, though he's made better movies (Hard Boiled), the fact that this movie single handedly launched the whole, Hong Kong, heroic bloodshed, gangster movie genre can't be ignored. all your wretched years, all your weeping... and your joy unbound. go down, be burned - rise again. |

Buttercup: But how can you be sure? Westley: This is true love - you think this happens every day? i'm going sane in a crazy world..... before you insult someone, you should first walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you insult them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Didn't you forget "pretty in Pink" in that list? ![]() Seriously though, there were a lot of good movies in the 80's, among which a good number with a dutch actor (Rutger Hauer and I already counted 3 in the posts above) Here's a couple of others to consider: Flesh and Blood (again Rutger hauer) Star wars (all 3) Dune Mad max Romancing the Stone Alien 2001 The exorcist Scarface Silence of the lambs Discussing with a fool is like wrestling a pig in the mud, sooner or later you are bound to realise that the pig likes it. |
