Brings joy to me as the Dresden books are like some of the best books out there.Slytherin Pride W.W.D.D. You are never too young to die nor too old to live. ~Me! They scratch that itch of a good book that deviates from the types of books I normally read.I'm slightly confused, however, since the third book just throws us in with Michael, without really giving any back story. It's being filled in slowly, but I want to know more about this character. The only qualm I have is I hope Mr. Butcher doesn't have the same pitfall as Robert Jordan, in that his characters fall into the same tropes throughout the entire series. That's why I still haven't finished Book 10 of the Wheel of Time series. The characters just don't have any development in the series, and all of the books follow the same exact formula, just move the plot along (although sometimes they don't move it very far). He really is an interesting character.Slytherin Pride W.W.D.D. You are never too young to die nor too old to live. ~Me! Member Since: February 2003 RK: 9 MP: 2,976 | Friday January 11, 2013 11:12 AM Lol! Yeah, I had the same problem. (And by that I mean I went through them like nothing. Kinda like I did with the Dragonlance trilogies now that I think about it...) Just wait until you get to Cold Days. Then you'll be like the rest of us Dresden fans pulling out hair out waiting for the next one. Then again, you don't have much hair to pull now do you? Being in the military and all...Let's see, the sixth on is... Blood Rites. Good book. At least, I enjoyed it. This whole thread belongs in the General Book forum, so I'm going to move it there tomorrow or the day after (12Jan2012 or 13Jan2012). 2.) We already have a Dresden Files thread over in the Book forum.... Death before Dishonor -- Nothing before Coffee Nihil curo de ista tua stulta superstitione |

Member Since: February 2007 RK: 6 MP: 1,036 | Friday January 11, 2013 9:34 PM You're right, silvy, sorry. Should have put it in the Book forum. In my defense, though, it wasn't supposed to devolve into a Dresden Files thread. I'm still open to more suggestions from anybody. ![]() Work Hard, Play Hard, Live Hard, but Love softly, and with All your Heart |

Member Since: February 2007 RK: 6 MP: 1,036 | Monday May 20, 2013 5:24 PM So, obviously by now I've finished the Dresden Files. Also finished the first book of the Black Company. I'm on the last book of the Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb. I started her books because my wife actually had Assassin's Apprentice in paperback already, so I picked it up and kept going with them.I've also got a couple books by C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity and The Four Loves), and someone from my unit recommended Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, so I have a sample of that on my Nook. Oh, and a book on leadership in the military which I received as a gift during the NCO Induction Ceremony my unit held before we deployed. Oobie, I'll get to your recommendations soon. Internet access is sporadic here, but I should be able to download new books when I need them. Any more recommendations everybody?
