I'm killing a book about a week lately. Once I'm done with this series, I have a backlog of about 20 other books on my Kobo, as well as a backlog of about 15 other different audio books. Member Since: October 2000 RK: 14 MP: 7,196 | Sunday April 8, 2012 9:32 PM Finished "The wind from nowhere" by J.G Ballard.Basically, a gigantic, world-wide wind startsand tears everything apart (moving in excess of 500 mph towards the end). A good enough start, but the mysterious man we see in glimpses throughout the book is pathetic and the books ends with the wind dropping as inexplicably as it started, without a single word about why, how or what the human race is up to afterwards. Not as good, sadly, but still an unadulterated pleasure to the eye. And not a bad story as such. Some of the stuff I found in Oxford in November.So far a pulp-ish, Jack Vance-y story. Jack Vance is good, and so far an interesting enough knock-off. I feel happy...I feel happy!
