I just finished the Legends trilogy and I dont think I can read about how the gods leave krynn and the dissapreance of magic! Its too depressing! Are they really worth the read? It was hard enough getting through Raistlin's death, now the obliteration of his very existence? Cmon! As if being ripped apart by Takhisis wasnt bad enough, now everything he works for gets thrown back in his face. And the poor children. I would rather live/die in the war of the lance then live through what they must have to go through. But... I want to keep reading.. I dont want it to stop either :

Er...he gets better?
Oh, keep reading. I assure you, a couple more books and you'd start grumbling on why the DL authors don't let him die
One day, someday, a whole week might pass without someone bemoaning Raist's death/doomed love/bunnies/boxer shorts. And then entropy will grind to a halt and the universe as we know it will end.
Bur "Days of our lives" will keep on going, probably.
Personally, I think that if Anne Rice had even one ounce more of hot air inside her, she'd float gently towards the heavens and disappear into space. Not that it would necessarily be a bad thing. -FW

The funny thing is fantasy can create more twists and turns then a Jerry Springer show.
Hex, I'd at least read through the core novels if you liked the series so far. The important thing is to be able to let go of the original characters.

Do what I told my li'l sister to do. Move away from Dragonlance after you've finished Legends. There are gazillions of other better fantasy titles out there.

The Legends trilogy sucks.
The Chronicles trilogy wasn't much better.
If you're so morally opposed to reading about the end of the Gods and all that good stuff, I'd suggest moving backwards in the Dragonlance timeline. All of the greatest DL books are all set pre-Chronicles.
The Legend of Huma
Kaz, The Minotaur
Land of the Minotaurs
The Elven Nations Trilogy
The Dwarven Nations Trilogy
The Dragons
The Kagonesti
Lord Soth
Etc etc.
There are too many good books to name, really.
Dragonlance is, while not the most mature of epic of settings, a great setting in its own right and deserves that respect. Too many claim that only the "main books" (Chronicles and Legends) are worth reading - and that everything else is crap and should be avoided, and that there are other "better" fantasy series' out there. I disagree, because "better" is a subjective term that doesn't really apply here.
A book is a book. If you really enjoy a book, then it's no better - in general - than any other book you enjoy that amount. I enjoy reading The Legend of Huma as much (though in a different way) as I enjoy reading The Silmarillion or The Once and Future King.
So before giving up on Dragonlance, or reading books you aren't really sure you want to delve into - try some of the history of Krynn stuff.
Enjoy.

After reading "Knight of the BLack Rose" I thought "Lord Soth" kinda ruined it.
It made Soth into a rather distasteful character from the beginning, rather than a real hero who genuinly falls from grace.
I feel happy...I feel happy!

I agree to some extent. But I think they were really just different approaches to the same character. Whereas Knight of the Black Rose exhibits a Soth that was indeed a Knight in all senses - Lord Soth exhibits a Soth that had every opportunity to -become- a true hero but could not due to his inherent selfishness and greed - which ultimately was his downfall.
So one book makes him a hero - the other illustrated his opportunities to be a hero.
Both books, I feel, were good in their own right.

That is true. Books are just like music. There's no 'better'. It's a matter of preferences. Liking Dragonlance is kinda like liking Linkin Park, I can claim that there are 'better' bands out there, but if you love Linkin Park, you can stick with them for an eternity. It's all up to you, really.

I make a post on how I loved the series especially the climatic ending and everyone turns into an Anti-Raistlin heretic. Its not like im in here sobbing about his death, I simply said it was a very eventful part of the series.. Get over it and stop looking through peoples posts for things to complain about and start talking about the actual topic, as was intended. Thanks.
Ive already read Legend of Huma then skipped to Kaz the Minotaur, they were what got me into Dragonlance. But there is far too much I havent learned about the world of Krynn to simply stop now. I supose i'll read Knight of the Black Rose. Lord Soth and the events surrounding the Cataclysm are really interesting. Then perhaps i'll read the story about Tanis' dark years, but I dont know, it got kind of annoying reading about Tanis after the War of the Lance.. Ever since he met up with Kitiara in Flotsam he started being real insecure and rather pathetic...
And, if you actually paid attention to my first post, youll see its not Raistlin that is my "hero", but the MAGIC. Raistlin was the embodiment of Magic, the most powerful mage to have existed. It makes sense for one who is astonished by magic to take heart to the one who has mastered it far beyond any other ever thought possible. And Dragons, Dragons rule. =)
