The 80’s changed many lives as well as set many trends for future decades and the movies are where it all began. Take a trip through time to any theater during that decade.
Remember going into the movies to be whisked away on a number of adventures with Indiana Jones or watching as Luke Skywalker grew with the force to become a true Jedi? How about seeing an friendly alien in ET, having Gremlins running a muck in your town or finding out what the true meaning of having a Poltergeist in your home meant? Who ya going to call then…Ghostbusters?
Joining the armed forces took on a different meaning after seeing Stripes and Private Benjamin. How about going on a mission from God with The Blues Brothers or joining the rest of the misfits in Police Academy? Traveling by air would never be the same after seeing Airplane and Honey I Shrunk the Kids made the back yard into a jungle.
Go back to the Vietnam war, either via Disc Jockey A2C Adrian Cronauer assigned to the US Armed Services Radio station in Good Morning Vietnam or with a group of American soldiers wading through the deadly jungles in Platoon.
Bond, James Bond was seen and heard all through the decade with his sexy international ladies in tow. Batman came to the rescue as he battled the Joker without his faithful Robin. In Die Hard, New York cop John McClane becomes a one man army as he fights international terrorists in a high rise office building during a Christmas party.

Working 9 to 5 is giving a whole new meaning as three female employees of a "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" find a way to settle the score with him. A cop and convict team up in 48 hours in order to track a killer down. In Ferris Bueller’s Day off, Ferris is determined to take off from school to go into the city taking his girlfriend and best friend along for the ride!
Baby falls for Johnny, a dance instructor, at a summer camp while learning about real life in Dirty Dancing. Marty McFly takes a trip to the past ending up in the 50’s and must find his way back to the 80’s while only changing history a little in Back to the Future. A young Amish boy sees a murder and policeman John Book goes into hiding in Amish country to protect him until the trial in the movie Witness.
A group of kids embark on a wild adventure after finding a pirate treasure map in the hope to find the riches to save their homes from being torn down, in The Goonies. Mick Dundee take on the wilds of the big city, in 'Crocodile' Dundee while Ripley goes back into space to once again to face those nasty creatures in Aliens. The never tiring crew from Star trek makes a few more runs through out space as well in Star Trek: II, III and IV where they lose Spock, find Spock then go back in time to save the earth. Talk about a busy couple of years.
Though many movies are mentioned here, it is just the tip of the ice burgh. The cinema during that decade has left it’s impression among old and young alike. No matter how one looks at it, movies during the 80’s will live on for all to enjoy.
